Piaget Celebrates 150 Years With Ultra-Thin Tourbillon Masterpiece
In the year that celebrates its 150 years of history and also the 5th anniversary of its Altiplano watch, Piaget presents a special edition of the Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon.
The new Altiplano, which now arrives in a dark blue case, adds a flying tourbillon, maintaining the same thickness as the previous case, which is not anymore the thinnest of watches, surpassed in the past by Richard Mile and recently by Bvlgari, it is the thinnest as it incorporates a tourbillon which, together with the case, presents an impressive height of just 2mm.
The watch, which only has an increase of 0.5mm in width, arrives in a PVD-coated case in cobalt alloy measuring 41.50mm by 2mm, sapphire crystal that is now thinner, a crown that completely fits the shape of the case and makes it imperceptible when folded and 20m water resistant.
Inside we find the ultra-thin 970P-UC 13-jewel manual movement that operates 28,800 Vph and offers up to 40 hours of power reserve.
The dial, which here is not autonomous is integrated into the movement, featuring an off-centre recessed dial at 1:30 that comes with gilt accents translated into baton hour markers and two pencil hands, a barrel at 6:30 engraved with the name of the brand and the watch along with the 150th anniversary and the 60-seconds tourbillon at 10 o’clock with a golden frame that can be seen on both sides of the case.
The world’s thinnest tourbillon watch arrives on a blue Cordura leather strap with a pin buckle matching the case.
