Panerai’s PAM01699 Unlocks Elite Access To Italy’s Naval Aviation Unit

Panerai expands its elite Submersible collection with the Submersible Chrono Marina Militare Experience Edition PAM01699, a professional-grade chronograph that blends rugged engineering with tactical design inspired by naval aviation. Limited to just 35 units, this release is also part of Panerai’s Experiences Program, offering owners access to an exclusive military immersion alongside the Italian Navy’s aviation division, Aviazione Navale.

High-Performance Build and Functionality

Crafted from Grade 5 titanium, the 47 mm case is both lightweight and resilient, featuring a brushed finish and a matte black ceramic bezel insert. Water-resistant to 500 meters, the PAM01699 exceeds typical dive watch standards, making it suited for both underwater and airborne operations.

Panerai’s signature crown protection system ensures durability, while three pushers enable full chronograph functionality. These include a countdown control at 4 o’clock, a flyback reset at 8 o’clock, and a start/stop button at 10 o’clock. The countdown feature is especially tailored for precision timing in tactical scenarios, allowing the user to decrement the minute hand in one-minute steps before switching to standard chronograph operation.

Aviation-Inspired Dial Design

The grainy green dial evokes military flight instrumentation. It features bold, applied hour markers filled with grey Super-LumiNova, and oversized hands for quick readability. Sub-dials at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock track running seconds and a 12-hour chronograph counter, respectively. The “Marina Militare” inscription at 6 o’clock pays tribute to its armed forces roots.

Owners also benefit from a Travel-Time Jump Hour function, which lets them adjust a secondary hour hand in one-hour steps—ideal for cross-time-zone operations. At night, the main time indicators glow green, while the secondary hour hand and 12 o’clock marker emit a distinct blue lume for intuitive orientation.

Powering the Mission: Calibre P.9100/R

Inside the watch beats the In-house automatic calibre P.9100/R, featuring a flyback chronograph, column wheel, and vertical clutch. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers a 3-day power reserve and high resistance to shocks and magnetic fields. The screw-down titanium caseback displays the insignia of the Aviazione Navale—a nod to the elite partnership that defines this timepiece.

Two Strap Options & Price

The watch is delivered with a green canvas strap and an additional black rubber strap, both secured with a titanium buckle to ensure wearability in a range of environments—from cockpit to open sea. It is now available in the brand’s official Boutiques for the price of € 70,000.

As part of Panerai’s Experiences Program, each of the 35 owners of the PAM01699 will be invited to join an immersive three-day training mission with the Aviazione Navale. Designed to mirror the operational life of naval aviation professionals, the experience includes tactical simulations, military training exercises, and real-world helicopter missions.
