Panerai Unveils Two New Luna Rossa Editions: PAM01653 And PAM01654
In anticipation of the 38th America’s Cup, Panerai extends its ongoing collaboration with the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli sailing team by presenting two new Luminor models that reflect the synergy between high-performance watchmaking and competitive sailing. The new references – the Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653 and the Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654 – underscore Panerai’s commitment to advanced materials, technical precision, and unmistakable Italian design.
Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654
Engineered for those who demand both function and durability, the PAM01654 features a 44 mm case crafted from Grade 5 titanium, offering a robust yet lightweight alternative to traditional steel. The case is finished with brushed surfaces and a polished bezel, creating a refined contrast. The signature crown protection device remains central to the Luminor silhouette, while red-accented pushers on the left side of the case distinguish this model as a chronograph.
The grey matte sandwich dial is designed for optimal legibility, with white Super-LumiNova X1 filled indices and hands that emit a bright glow in low light. The central red chronograph seconds and minutes hands, paired with sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock for hour totalizer and running seconds, respectively, enhance functionality. A nautical tachymeter scale on the flange adds a maritime-specific measurement tool.
Inside, the watch is powered by the automatic Panerai P.9100 calibre, an in-house movement notable for its flyback chronograph functionality, vertical clutch, column wheel, and twin barrel construction that delivers a 72-hour power reserve. The movement also features a free-sprung balance with Glucydur and Incabloc shock protection.
The PAM01654 comes with a Luna Rossa-branded bi-material strap in grey textile and black rubber, accented with a red stripe. A second black rubber strap is also included. The watch is limited to 150 pieces and priced at € 15,900.
Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653
Positioned as a time-only counterpart, the PAM01653 maintains the Luna Rossa spirit in a more streamlined execution. It uses the same 44 mm case size, but in AISI 316LVM stainless steel, a high-purity, corrosion-resistant alloy often reserved for medical-grade applications.
The dial mirrors the PAM01654’s matte grey sandwich design, featuring white luminous markers, a red small seconds hand at 9 o’clock, and the Luna Rossa logo at 6 o’clock. A date window is absent to preserve the symmetry and simplicity of the display.
This model is equipped with the hand-wound P.6000 calibre, offering 3 days of power reserve, a stop-seconds function, and 21,600 vibrations/hour operating frequency. Its transversal balance bridge reinforces structural stability, contributing to consistent timekeeping.
Water resistance is rated at 100 meters, and like the chrono version, it is supplied with the Luna Rossa bi-material strap and an extra rubber strap for added versatility. The Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653 retails for € 6,700.
