Panerai expands its Luminor collection with the introduction of the Luminor GMT Ceramica PAM01460, a striking new model that combines the brand’s unmistakable design with a more compact and wearable 40 mm case size. Crafted in black ceramic, this timepiece blends the durability expected of a professional tool watch with refined Italian aesthetics.

A Sleek 40 mm Ceramic Case

The new Luminor GMT Ceramica marks the first time the iconic Luminor design has been presented in a 40 mm ceramic case, offering a versatile size suited to a wider range of wrists. The case features a sandblasted finish, contrasted by subtle polished details on the bezel and the signature crown-protecting lever.

Despite its smaller dimensions, the watch maintains the brand’s reputation for toughness, offering 300 metres of water resistance. True to Panerai’s rigorous standards, each model undergoes testing that exceeds its rated depth by 25%, ensuring exceptional reliability under pressure.

The Dial: Functional and Luminous

The PAM01460 features a black sun-brushed dial that seamlessly complements the ceramic case. Panerai’s signature sandwich dial construction allows the Super-LumiNova X2 layer beneath to shine through the cut-out hour markers and small seconds indices, ensuring superb legibility in low light.

The dial layout remains balanced and purposeful, with a date display at 3 o’clock and the inscription “BiTempo”—Italian for “dual time”—at 6 o’clock, referencing the 12-hour GMT hand that enables tracking of a second time zone. All hands, including the small seconds, are coated with Super-LumiNova for consistent nighttime visibility.

The Movement: P.900/GMT Automatic Calibre

Visible through the smoked sapphire crystal caseback, the P.900/GMT automatic calibre powers the watch. This in-house movement delivers a 72-hour power reserve, making it practical for weekend wear. While the finishing maintains an industrial aesthetic in line with Panerai’s utilitarian DNA, the movement’s clean architecture is visible through the darkened display back.

Strap Options and Easy Interchangeability

Panerai supplies the Luminor GMT Ceramica with two straps: a black calf leather strap for a refined everyday look and a rubber strap for more active or aquatic use. The brand’s PAM Click Release System allows for effortless strap changes without tools, and the sandblasted DLC titanium buckle is designed to be swapped easily between both straps.
