Panerai Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni Marks 100 Years Of Its Florence Boutique
In 2026, Panerai marks the centenary of one of the most important locations in its history: the boutique at Piazza San Giovanni in Florence. Originally opened in 1926 under the name Orologeria Svizzera, the Florentine store was more than a point of sale, also serving as a place where Panerai watches were assembled and repaired.

To commemorate 100 years of the historic boutique, Panerai introduces two limited editions, the Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni PAM01734 and PAM01794. Both draw inspiration from a rare Luminor prototype, the Ref. 6152/1 from the 1960s, while translating its distinctive design into a contemporary 44mm case.
A Florentine Luminor
The historical inspiration is particularly relevant to Panerai, as Florence was central to the brand’s early development before its military-watch history became more widely known.
The original Ref. 6152/1 prototype featured a substantial 47 mm Luminor case. For the new editions, Panerai retains the characteristic cushion-shaped architecture but reduces the diameter to 44 mm, making the watches somewhat more wearable while preserving the unmistakable Luminor proportions.
The middle case is polished on both models, contrasting with the brushed finish of the iconic crown-protecting bridge. A slightly curved, domed sapphire crystal further references the appearance of the Perspex crystals used on Luminor watches during the 1960s.
The two references are distinguished primarily by their case materials and construction.
PAM01734 in Platinumtech
The PAM01734 represents the more exclusive interpretation, featuring Panerai’s Platinumtech case. The proprietary alloy contains 95% pure platinum and has been treated to increase its hardness.

The precious-metal case is paired with a green sandwich dial, creating a strong connection between the dial colour and the Florentine inspiration. Gold-effect hands complement the platinum case, while the dial carries the historic “Panerai Firenze” inscription beneath 12 o’clock.
Unlike its steel counterpart, the PAM01734 features an open sapphire caseback, allowing the manufacture movement to be viewed. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres.
Only 100 pieces of the PAM01734 will be produced.
PAM01794 in Steel
The PAM01794 takes the same basic design in a more utilitarian direction, using a polished stainless-steel case and a black sandwich dial.

Blue-finished hands provide the main colour contrast against the dark dial, while the applied and cut-out hour markers and numerals are treated with green Super-LumiNova for visibility in low-light conditions.
The steel model also receives a closed brushed-steel caseback, engraved with a representation of the Florence boutique, and offers increased water resistance of 300 metres.
With a production run of 1,000 pieces, the PAM01794 is considerably less exclusive than the Platinumtech edition, while retaining the same historical theme and movement.
Sandwich Dials
Both watches use Panerai’s characteristic sandwich dial construction, with circular brushing adding texture to the surface.
Cut-out numerals and indices provide the familiar Panerai appearance, while the cardinal numerals and markers are combined with pencil-shaped hands. Green Super-LumiNova is applied to the hands and hour markers.
Perhaps the most important historical detail is the “Panerai Firenze” inscription beneath 12 o’clock. Rather than simply using the anniversary as a decorative reference, Panerai has reproduced an element associated with the historical prototype.
P.5000 Manufacture Calibre
Powering both watches is the P.5000, Panerai’s manually wound manufacture movement.

The calibre uses two mainspring barrels and delivers an impressive 8-day, power reserve. Its architecture comprises 113 components and operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz).
The long power reserve is particularly appropriate for the Firenze 8 Giorni name and remains one of the defining characteristics of this movement.
Florentine Details
The connection to Florence continues through the straps. Both watches are supplied with Tuscan calfskin straps embossed with the Florentine lily, a direct reference to the city.

The PAM01734 comes with a black leather strap and an additional green rubber strap, while the PAM01794 is supplied with dark-brown leather and an additional black rubber strap.
The presentation also receives a dedicated treatment. Both watches are delivered in mahogany boxes featuring a metal plaque depicting the historic entrance of Panerai’s Florence boutique.
Price & Availability
The Panerai Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni Platinumtech PAM01734 is limited to 100 pieces and priced at € 55,000.
The Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni PAM01794 is limited to 1,000 pieces and priced at € 10,700.
Both editions will be available through Panerai boutiques from September 2026.
Our Opinion
The Luminor Firenze 8 Giorni is an interesting anniversary project because the historical reference is not limited to the location or packaging. Panerai has taken a relatively obscure 1960s prototype and translated several of its details into two modern watches, including the domed crystal and “Panerai Firenze” dial signature.

The choice between the two is also quite clear. The PAM01734 brings the more luxurious interpretation through Platinumtech, a green dial and an open caseback, while the PAM01794 stays closer to the rugged character traditionally associated with the Luminor, with its steel construction, closed caseback and 300-metre water resistance.
Both, however, retain the same 44 mm case and P.5000 eight-day movement, making the Firenze 8 Giorni a celebration of Panerai’s Florentine roots as much as an anniversary edition.
