Oris Unveils Aquis Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition IV
Oris continues to take firm steps towards a better and more sustainable world, supporting several environmental initiatives for a few years now, this time it brings us a limited edition of the Oris Aquis that supports coral conservation by the Reef Restoration Foundation in Australia.
As expected, the new Oris Great Barrier Reef Limited Edition IV embraces the Swiss watch brand’s flagship dive watch, the Aquis, which comes with a beautiful gradient blue-turquoise dial and the powerful In-House Caliber 400.
Housed in the traditional round stainless steel case in the 43.50mm wide version, it features a finish that alternates between brushed and polished, a unidirectional bezel with grey Tungsten inlay, sapphire crystal, screw-down crown with the brand’s signature and surrounded by large guards, screwed solid case engraved with corals and starfish and 300m waterproof.
The beautiful dial whose blue bottom turns to turquoise at the top tries to recreate the spectacle of colour on the Great Barrier Reef provided by the sun’s rays. It features the same arrangement as its peers with applied shield-shaped hour markers that, like the Alpha hands, come filled with Super-LumiNova, a date window with a matching background at 6 o’clock, a lollipop centre seconds hand and finally, the white inscriptions of the brand at noon and “Aquis” followed by “300m/1000ft” and “5 Days” at 6 o’clock.
As mentioned above, the Caliber 400 automatic movement operates inside, which comes with a silicon escapement, an accuracy of -3/+5 seconds per day, running at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 5 days of power reserve as advertised on the dial.
The watch is presented with the usual 3-link integrated steel bracelet and a folding clasp, limited to 2,000 pieces and priced at €3,900.
