Oris Celebrates 120 Years With All-Black Hölstein Edition
Here we go again, it’s June 1st and Oris celebrates 120 candles, which means that the Swiss watch brand is once again bringing a new Hölstein edition that celebrates its birth.
This year’s edition brings us a completely black watch, in which nothing has been left behind, I mean, maybe the movement but that’s not a problem as the solid case back doesn’t let it show, but everything else is black. We’re talking about the case, bezel, crown, case back, rubber strap and its hardware, and the dial, wait a minute, not exactly, after all there is something that is not completely black, yes we are talking about the Arabic numerals printed on the date wheel that are white, Eureka I caught you!
After the 2022 version, a 36.50mm chronograph with a blue dial inspired by retro chronographs that I loved, and last year the Aquis with a purple dial, this year Oris opts for its Divers Sixty-Five to embody this new edition.
So on the outside, the watch wears the traditional 40mm by 12.80mm round stainless steel case that comes with a black DLC, which also extends to the unidirectional bezel with embossed scale, the crown at 3 o’clock with the brand’s signature, the screwed case-back which this time features the brand’s teddy bear with sunglasses and swimwear, sapphire glass and the usual 100m of water resistance.
The black dial comes with the same layout as its siblings with applied hour markers and hands filled with black Super-LumiNova and a date window at 6 o’clock with a black background.
Inside, the brand raised the bar by bringing its In-house Caliber 400 with 21 jewels, which presents strong resistance to magnetic fields, runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 5 days of power reserve.
The watch comes attached to a Tropic-style rubber strap with a steel pin buckle which, like the case, comes with a black DLC.
Like previous editions, it is limited to 250 units, which can be found from today onwards in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers for a price of CHF 3,900.
