Oris Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye” Returns To The Collection
Oris relaunches the Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye,” a historically inspired model that brings back a distinctive two-tone dial design not seen in the brand’s catalog for nearly 30 years. Unlike previous appearances of this dial style, the new “Bullseye” is not a limited edition and will remain part of Oris’ regular lineup.

The Big Crown Pointer Date has been a cornerstone of the Oris portfolio since its introduction in 1938. While the collection has evolved over the years with new materials, colors, and movements, the core elements—such as the oversized crown, pointer date display, and fluted bezel—have remained consistent. The “Bullseye” version reinforces this heritage-driven approach.
A Historically Inspired Dial Design
The defining feature of the Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye” is its black-and-white two-tone dial. This concentric layout traces its roots back to early Oris wristwatches from the 1910s and saw broader popularity during the mid-20th century. Oris last used this style in the late 1990s, making its return a notable addition to the modern collection.

The dial is structured around a bold black central section that houses large Arabic numerals for the hours. Surrounding this is a lighter outer ring featuring a printed minute and seconds track, followed by a red date scale positioned at the very edge of the dial. The pointer date is indicated by a centrally mounted hand with a red crescent-shaped tip, offering immediate legibility and visual contrast.
Lume-filled cathedral-style hands display the hours and minutes, maintaining the traditional pilot-watch aesthetic associated with the Big Crown line. A slim central seconds hand completes the display without detracting from the dial’s layered layout.
Stainless Steel Case and Proportions
The watch is housed in a stainless steel case measuring 38 mm in diameter, with a lug-to-lug length of 45.50 mm and a total thickness of 12.20 mm, including the crystal. These dimensions place it firmly in the category of versatile everyday watches, suitable for a wide range of wrist sizes.

A signature fluted coin-edge bezel sits atop the case, paired with a double-domed sapphire crystal. Water resistance is rated at 50 meters, aligning with the watch’s vintage-inspired, daily-wear positioning rather than a tool-watch focus. The oversized crown, a defining characteristic of the Big Crown family, remains a prominent functional and visual element.
Oris Caliber 754
Powering the Big Crown Pointer Date “Bullseye” is the Oris caliber 754, an automatic movement based on the Sellita SW200-1. The movement has been adapted to support the pointer date complication and is fitted with Oris’ recognizable red rotor, visible through the sapphire caseback.

The caliber operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), contains 26 jewels, and provides a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. Known for its reliability and ease of servicing, this movement choice supports Oris’ strategy of offering mechanical watches that balance performance, longevity, and accessibility.
Strap and Wearability
The watch is delivered on a black Cervo Volante leather strap made from sustainably sourced deer leather. The strap is fitted with quick-release spring bars, allowing for easy strap changes without tools. As with other Big Crown Pointer Date models, the 38 mm case and classic lug design make it compatible with a wide variety of leather, fabric, and NATO straps.
