Oris Aquis Date Presents Three New Additions
With the arrival of summer, it is natural for watch brands to present novelties to the upcoming season, inviting to good dives and nautical adventures and it is in this context that Oris brings three Aquis freshness.
Aquis Date Caliber 400
And starting with the Aquis Date Caliber 400 41.5mm line, there are two new entries that stand out for now featuring a stainless steel case with an 18k gold edge bezel.
In addition to the new “two-tone” case, the new watches also feature gilt accents on the scale of the ceramic insert bezel and on the applied hour markers and hands of the dial. The new watches are offered in two variants, one in shades of blue and the other in shades of green, whose gradient colouration darkens as it moves away from the centre. It should also be noted that the ceramic insert bezel follows the tone of the dial.
Everything else remains within the line, namely the 41.5mm case, screw-down crown and case back, front sapphire crystal and case back, 300m water resistance, date window on the dial and inside the powerful Caliber 400 that offers up to 120 hours of power reserve.
The watch is offered on a stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp and quick strap change system or with a rubber strap matching the dial. The watches will be available from June 2022 with prices starting at €4,000 and €3,900 for the steel bracelet or rubber strap variants respectively.

Aquis Date Cherry
The third novelty and the more affordable is the Aquis Date “Bigger” Cherry 43.5mm, which, after being presented in the 41.5mm size last year and being a huge success, the brand now bets on the 43.5mm size.
The business card of this watch is for sure its awesome sunray cherry dial, which is still unusual to see on a diver watch but which delighted the public in 2021 as already mentioned.
Everything else remains unchanged, namely the stainless steel case, unidirectional bezel with stainless steel insert, screw-down crown and case back, front sapphire glass and mineral glass on the case back and 300m water resistance. On the dial, rhodium-plated hour markers and hands all filled with Super-LumiNova and date window at 6 o’clock. Inside, it is powered by the Oris 733 automatic movement that operates at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.
The watch is offered with a three-link stainless steel bracelet with a folding clasp which will be available from June 2022 at the same price as the downsize, €2,100.

Our Opinion
Reversing the roles and starting from the bottom up, as happened a year ago and following the general opinion of the public, we continue to like the Aquis Cherry very much because in simplicity dwells reason, we believe that the combination of the cherry red dial and the steel bezel insert works perfectly, the bet now on the larger size is not for everyone, that’s why the 41.5mm version is still available, but it will certainly make a difference to an audience that demands a watch with a little more presence on the wrist.
Moving straight on to the two new Aquis Date Caliber 400, they follow the market trend that started last year with a greater search for two-tone watches, in February we had already seen that happened with the Tissot Seastar line making this same bet and now it’s Oris’ turn and we suspect that the market will not stop here. But going back to the new watches, we liked both variants, although the colours are not new in the line, the shades are different and lighter that now combined with the rubber strap, promise to bring more joy to the wrists this summer.
