Orient Star Sakigake Three Hand Brings A Classic New Direction
Orient Star has introduced the Sakigake Three Hand, the first model in its new Sakigake collection and a significant departure from the brand’s more distinctive traditional designs. Combining a classically styled 39 mm case with a refined dial and a newly developed automatic movement, the watch takes a more restrained approach while retaining the mechanical focus for which Orient Star is known.

Positioned above the more accessible Orient range within the Seiko Epson family, Orient Star has traditionally distinguished itself through mechanical sophistication and features such as its characteristic power-reserve indicators. The Sakigake Three Hand takes a different route, offering a straightforward time-only configuration with an emphasis on finishing and everyday versatility.
A More Classical Case
The stainless steel case measures 39 mm in diameter and introduces a combination of polished and brushed surfaces. The bezel and outer portions of the lugs receive mirror polishing, while the mid-case and inner lug surfaces are brushed, creating a clear contrast between the different planes.

The proportions are complemented by a new bracelet designed specifically for the model. With a 20 mm lug width, the bracelet sits closely against the case and gives the watch an almost integrated appearance without adopting a fully integrated construction.
Detailed Sunburst Dial
The dial is where Orient Star adds most of its character to the otherwise familiar classical formula.
A radial sunburst finish provides the base, with the collection offered in silver, light blue and gold. A copper-coloured version is also available as a limited edition of 900 pieces.

The applied hour markers feature a faceted wedge-shaped design, while the inner perimeter incorporates a snailed rehaut with a printed minute track. The hands are also newly designed, with faceted surfaces and narrow cutouts that give them a more technical appearance.
Unlike many contemporary sports-oriented watches, however, the Sakigake Three Hand has no luminous material on either the hands or hour markers. This reinforces its more formal character, although it naturally reduces legibility in low-light conditions.
New Calibre F7542
One of the most important developments is hidden inside the case.
The Sakigake Three Hand marks the debut of the new Orient Star Calibre F7542, an automatic movement developed specifically for this time-only configuration. It offers a 50-hour power reserve and a stated accuracy of +15/-5 seconds per day.

The absence of a date display or power-reserve indicator is particularly notable for Orient Star. The latter has become something of a signature feature for the brand, appearing across many of its collections. Here, the clean dial takes priority over additional functionality.
The result is a much simpler presentation that allows the dial finishing and applied details to take centre stage.
A New Bracelet
The Sakigake also introduces a new bracelet design for Orient Star.

Its links combine polished H-shaped elements with brushed centre sections and a brushed outer edge. The finishing continues the visual treatment of the case, particularly where the bracelet meets the brushed inner lugs.
The bracelet is secured by a trifold deployant clasp. There is no micro-adjustment system, but Orient Star includes a half-link, allowing the wearer to achieve a more precise fit.
Availability and Price
The Orient Star Sakigake Three Hand collection is currently available through the brand’s European websites, with a price of € 880.
With its 39 mm case, restrained three-hand layout, new automatic movement and carefully finished dial, the Sakigake represents an interesting new direction for Orient Star. Rather than adding another technical complication to the collection, the brand has instead concentrated on proportions, finishing and a more universally familiar design language.
