Omega’s Aqua Terra Special Edition: A Nod To Armand Duplantis
With just over a month to go before the Paris Olympic Games begin, Omega, which is once again the Official Timekeeper for the event, brings a special edition of the Seamaster Aqua Terra that pays tribute to Olympic champion Armand “Mondo” Duplantis.
Armand Duplantis is a Swedish-American pole vault athlete who, at just 24 years old, in addition to being an Olympic champion with a gold medal in Tokyo, has already broken the world record 8 times, being the current holder of the 6.24m mark, which this year will try to hit again.
This special edition of the Aqua Terra stands out for its blue and yellow tones in a clear allusion to the colours of the Athlete’s homeland, who has been an Omega ambassador since 2020.
The watch, like its peers, comes dressed in a stainless steel case with dimensions of 41mm in diameter, 13.20mm in thickness and 48mm lug-to-lug distance that features a brushed finish on the surfaces and polished on smooth bezel, wide bevels and conical crown. Sapphire glass, screwed open case back and 150m water resistance.
The blue opaline dial comes with the traditional horizontal stripes pattern on which polished triangular hour markers and Dauphine’s hands with the minute one coming with an arrow tip and all filled with Super-LumiNova. In it, we can also find a date window at 6 o’clock and a minute rehaut with Arabic numerals printed in white and quarter hours in yellow matching the centre seconds hand.
The rear sapphire crystal reveals the Caliber 8900 automatic movement, which is Master Chronometer-certified with Co-axial escapement, operating at 25,200 Vph and offering up to 60 hours of power reserve, thanks to its dual barrels.
The new Aqua Terra comes attached to an integrated textured blue rubber strap matching the dial, with a diamond pattern, yellow stitching and a folding clasp with the brand’s signature.
The watch joins the brand’s permanent collection as a special edition and arrives with a price tag of €6,900.
