Omega Presents The New Seamaster Planet Ocean ETNZ Edition As The Official Timekeeper Of The America’s Cup
The 37th edition of the American’s Cup starting in Barcelona is about to start and what better way to do so than with the launch of the new exclusive Chronometer dedicated to the event by the official timekeeper and the sponsor of the team that holds the title?
The result is the new Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial Master Chronometer Chronograph Emirates Team New Zealand (ETNZ) Edition, which arrives wearing the team’s colours as expected, where the black tone of the case dominates, with many turquoise details and some white notations.
The chronograph wears a black full ceramic case whose robust presence evidenced by its dimensions of 45.50mm in diameter, 19mm in thickness and 52.40mm lug-to-lug distance is not reflected in its low weight. The unidirectional bezel in the same material as the case is designed with a white painted diving scale with a pip-lume at 12 o’clock, crown at 3 o’clock flanked by two pushers all with turquoise details, a helium escape valve at 10 o’clock clock, sapphire crystal on the front, solid case back painted with the ETNZ logo, and 600m water resistance.
On the black dial, the highlight is the regatta countdown timer that appears with a raised turquoise chapter ring that matches the wide compass-style hand that also houses an hour-counter aperture on its bottom. On the opposite side, there are running seconds and at 6 o’clock a date window. On the dial we can also find a turquoise minute track around it matching the 12 Arabic numeral and the chronograph centre seconds hand whose counterweight is carved with the competition trophy, applied hour markers and hands with an arrow-shaped tip all filled with generous layers of Super-LumiNova that makes them glow in the dark.
Inside, the powerful Caliber 9900, which is a METAS-certified Master Chronometer, sets the rules, presenting resistance to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 Gauss, operating at 28,800 Vph and offering up to 60 hours of power reserve.
The chronograph, in addition to being attached to a textured black rubber strap with contours and stitching in turquoise with a ceramic clasp, is supplied with an extra turquoise rubber strap and two nylon NATO straps and can be purchased for the price of CHF 11,700.
