Omega Presents The New Seamaster Planet Ocean Dark Grey In Ceramic And Titanium

Omega has just announced the unexpected launch of a new Seamaster Planet Ocean which, despite its bulky size, comes with some very interesting new features.

The news is on the outside in the new Si3N4 case made of silicon nitride ceramic and inside in the Caliber 8906Ti movement that comes with titanium components. The result is clear to see a lightweight and highly resistant watch.

The chunky dark grey ceramic case is not for small wrists, measuring 45.50mm in diameter by 17.40mm in thickness, Grade 5 Titanium insert bezel in the same tone as the case, sapphire crystal on both sides, titanium screw-dow crown at 3 o ‘clock and the traditional Helium exhaust valve at 10 o’clock, and 600m water resistance.

The sandblasted titanium dial comes with blackened applied Arabic numerals at 6-9-12 o’clock and the same goes for the brand’s logo and lettering at 12 o’clock. Hour markers and arrow-shaped hands all filled with white Super-LumiNova matching the background of the date window at 3 o’clock. Lastly, the GMT hand comes with an orange arrow-shaped tip whose tone also extends to the tip of the centre second’s hand and the ‘Seamaster’ and ‘GMT’ inscriptions at noon and the water resistance at 6 o’clock.

Inside, the Co-Axial automatic movement operates, which is COSC certified, offering resistance to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 Gauss, an accuracy of between 0/+5 seconds per day and up to 60 hours of power reserve. The open case back reveals an almost entirely blackened movement with laser ablation on the bridges, main plate and rotor.

The watch, which comes attached to a black-grey textured rubber strap with a titanium clasp, is priced at €24,700, which is not cheap but reflects the premium materials in the case and movement.
