New Orient Star M42 Diver In Titanium: A Tribute To Iconic 1964 Dive Watches
Orient Star has unveiled a new limited edition of its M42 Diver, crafted in titanium as part of the Sports M42 collection. This edition follows the 2021 and 2022 stainless steel versions, which featured white and gradient turquoise dials, and continues the brand’s tribute to the 1964 Calendar Auto Orient and the 60th anniversary of Orient Star’s dive watches.
This new Orient Star M42 Diver stands out with its lightweight titanium case, which measures 41mm in diameter, 14.30mm thick, and 49.60mm long. The case is protected with a durable coating and features a matte finish for added toughness. The watch also includes a unidirectional diving bezel with a black aluminum insert, golden scale, and a lumed pip at 12 o’clock. The crown, placed at 3 o’clock, is screw-down and bears the brand’s signature, while the screw-down case back comes with special engravings marking it as a limited edition, complete with its serial number. Water resistance is set at 200 meters, adhering to the ISO 6425 standards for dive watches.
The charcoal grey dial of the Orient Star M42 Titanium features a vertical hairline finish, giving it an understated yet elegant texture. Gold hour markers and cathedral hands, filled with luminescent material, enhance legibility, while the date window is positioned next to the crown for convenience. The dial also includes a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock, and the brand’s inscriptions, along with “Automatic,” “Diver’s 200m,” and “Titanium,” are neatly placed at 6 o’clock.
Powering the watch is Orient Star’s in-house automatic movement, the Caliber F6N47, which contains 22 jewels and operates at 21,600 Vph. The movement provides a solid 50-hour power reserve, making it reliable for daily wear or diving adventures. The watch is paired with a five-row titanium bracelet featuring a trifold deployant buckle with a diver’s extension, ensuring comfort and security during underwater activities.
