New Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Feature Sleek Black Dial Design
Omega, after presenting the special edition of the Seamaster Aqua Terra “Mondo” this week, now adds another novelty to the collection, the new Aqua Terra Black Dial in three different sizes.
The new Aqua Terra in 34, 38 and 41mm arrives with a black lacquered dial instead of the traditional grooved dial with horizontal stripes inspired by boat decks.
On the outside, we once again find the usual round stainless steel case with a polished finish, smooth bezel and wide bevels, sapphire crystal, conical crown with the brand’s signature, screwed open case back and 150m water resistance.
The new smooth shiny dial follows the same layout as its siblings, with polished triangle-shaped indexes that in the reduced version take on the shape of a sailboat and Dauphine’s hands all filled with Super-LumiNova, with the minute hand coming with an arrowhead as seen with the centre seconds hand. A date window at 6 o’clock with a matching background that in the 41 and 38mm versions comes in the shape of a trapezoid while in the 34mm in a round shape, a white printed minute track with Arabic numerals near the edges just on the 38 and 41mm sizes and the brand’s inscriptions at noon and the movement at 6 o’clock.
Everything is the same inside too, with the Caliber 8900 automatic movement equipping the larger version and the Caliber 8800 in the two smaller sizes. Both are Master Chronometers with Co-Axial escapement advertised on the dial, offering a power reserve of 60 and 55 hours respectively.
The new watches come attached to a 3-row polished and brushed steel bracelet that comes redesigned with smaller, rounder links and a butterfly clasp.
The watches now join the Seamaster permanent collection and can be found in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers for a price of €7,300.
Our Opinion
There isn’t much to say about the limited changes, but it should be noted that the new smooth lacquered dials bring fresh air to the collection translating into a more modern and versatile look. The same can be said about the bracelet, which with the redesigned links is more appealing. We can’t tell from the photos whether it is more tapered, but we want to believe that it is, as it happens with the latest update to the Speedmaster bracelet, otherwise, it would be a shame.
Without wanting to guess the future, we believe that we will soon have new Aqua Terras with smooth-coloured dials.
