New Nomos Tangente And Ludwig Gold Models Join The Collection
Nomos Glashütte expands its collection with two new gold editions that highlight the brand’s minimalist design and in-house horological expertise. The new Tangente Gold Neomatik and Ludwig Gold bring a refined sense of luxury to two of the manufacture’s most emblematic models, maintaining the brand’s philosophy of understated elegance and value-driven watchmaking.
Tangente Gold Neomatik
The Tangente, widely recognized as the signature Nomos design, now makes its debut in 3N yellow gold. Its clean Bauhaus-inspired geometry, slim profile, and timeless proportions make the transition to precious metal effortless.

The Tangente Gold Neomatik is presented in a 35 mm case with a height of only 6.90 mm, showcasing the sleek precision typical of the model. Despite its delicate appearance, the watch maintains 50 meters of water resistance and features sapphire crystals on both sides, a polished finish, and the characteristic angled lugs that define the Tangente line.

Three dial variations are available. The first features a silver-plated dial paired with gold hands, creating a warm and elegant tone. The second version also uses a silver-plated dial but contrasts it with blued steel hands for a touch of cool sophistication. The third variant introduces a ruthenium-plated dark grey dial with gold-colored printing and gold hands, offering a contemporary and slightly more dramatic appearance. Regardless of the version, each retains the distinctive typography and balanced layout that have made the Tangente an icon of modern watch design.

Powering the watch is the Nomos DUW 3001 calibre, the brand’s ultra-thin automatic movement measuring only 3.20 mm in height. It features the proprietary Nomos Swing System escapement, operates at a frequency of 3 Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour), and delivers a 43-hour power reserve. The movement is beautifully decorated with Glashütte ribbing, perlage, and thermally blued screws, all visible through the sapphire display back.
Each Tangente Gold Neomatik is paired with a Horween Shell Cordovan strap in black or brown, depending on the dial variant. Priced at € 9,800, the model joins the permanent Nomos collection, offering a rare blend of precious metal craftsmanship and minimalist design.
Ludwig Gold
The Ludwig Gold takes a more classical approach, with its rounded case and Roman numeral dial lending a traditional touch to Nomos’ design language. The 35 mm gold case features a slender 6.30 mm profile, straight lugs, and a domed sapphire crystal, reflecting refined simplicity with a subtle vintage charm.

Nomos offers two versions of the Ludwig Gold, both with silver-plated dials. The first pairs the dial with gold hands for a unified, soft aesthetic, while the second uses blued steel hands that create a striking contrast against the warm tones of the case. The use of Roman numerals and a railroad-style minute track reinforces the Ludwig’s formal and classical personality, setting it apart from the sharper, more geometric Tangente.

Inside the case beats the DUW 4001 calibre, a hand-wound movement derived from the brand’s celebrated Alpha calibre and enhanced with the Nomos Swing System. This movement provides a 53-hour power reserve and is finished according to Glashütte traditions, with ribbing, sunburst decoration, and thermally blued screws. The Ludwig Gold can be ordered with either a solid gold caseback or a sapphire crystal caseback, depending on the wearer’s preference.

Like its automatic counterpart, the Ludwig Gold is fitted with a Horween Shell Cordovan strap in brown or black and is priced at € 8,700. It will also become a permanent part of the Nomos Glashütte collection.
Final Thoughts
The two new additions meet the latest market trends, aimed at an audience that seeks smaller and more elegant watches. Their 35mm case, which may seem too small to many, is actually not as compact as it appears due to the length of the angular lugs of the Tangente and the straight lugs of the Ludwig, which make both watches wear closer to a 38 or 39 mm case. This ensures a refined yet confident wrist presence without compromising elegance.
While the Tangente is more oriented toward a contemporary audience thanks to its minimalist layout with elongated Arabic numerals and dash minute track, the Ludwig appeals to a more conservative clientele, combining Roman numerals with a railway minute track. Both share the same subtle small seconds complication at six o’clock, adding a balanced visual anchor to their dials.
Undoubtedly, these are two important additions to their respective lines that align perfectly with the brand’s philosophy while meeting current market demands, demonstrating that sometimes it takes very little to achieve the best of both worlds.
