New Casio G-Shock NASA arrived and is a Limited Edition
In late April, a new and limited edition of the Casio G-Shock DW5600 was launched with the NASA seal, a model that was born in 1983 by the hands of Kikuo Ibe, this new variant is a commemorative edition of space exploration, the Casio G-Shock is today and, for some years now, one of the most used watches by astronauts in space missions, not only because it is accessible and robust, but also because it is reliable. If you have not had the opportunity to purchase one of these pieces, we inform you that it is no longer possible. It was sold out in a few hours and nobody knows if there will be a second edition, but attending in other limited editions of Casio G-Shock that happened, we think there is reason to hope.
Now let’s take a look inside this new watch, on the packaging, which comes with the traditional black box, but this one comes with an image with a view of the earth from space. Inside, we can find a cool white tin with some inscriptions in addition to the traditional “G-Shock”, we can find “USA” in red on one side and in the USA flag on the other.
On the watch itself, it is a variation of the classic G-Shock DW5600 line, as we wrote above, a square model in white with some exclusive details, in front the inscription “NASA” in red at the top of the screen, at the case back the moon is engraved, on the long side of the strap is the black inscription of the “National Aeronautics and Space Administration” and the US flag on the handle. Probably the coolest thing about this watch is the EL backlight with the afterglow when you press the light bottom that shows the moon in the background.
Final thoughts, it is a very cool watch that fits perfectly in your collection and will probably make you smile many times, it is not a watch for all times, but it is a watch for casual moments, for training and with it, you can play hard. If I didn’t have one, I would consider buying one, mine is the basic model of the DW-5600E and is very adaptable. Last year, I bought a strap adapter that allows the use of NATO and ZULU straps and can be very funny. In this model, you will have the same option to buy this adapter and change the appearance of the watch when you get tired of the rubber strap.
Other specifications: a plastic case measures 48.90 by 42.80mm, a thickness of 13.40mm and weighs 53grams, with a stainless-steel case back and a resin strap. Its battery has a lifetime approximability of 2 years, water-resistance of 20 Bar or 200 meters (ISO 2281 certificated). This watch has some complications and is equipped with 24H or 12H time, automatic calendar, alarm, stopwatch and split time. The price is $130 and is only available in the US store.
