Blancpain expands its iconic Fifty Fathoms collection with the introduction of a new 38 mm case size, offering a contemporary take on its legendary dive watch with proportions suited to a broader range of wrists. The new Fifty Fathoms Automatique 38 mm debuts in stainless steel, grade 23 titanium, and 18k red gold, with a total of 14 references making up this release.

A Recalibrated Case for Modern Wearability

The defining feature of this launch is the newly engineered 38 mm case, designed not as a scaled-down version of larger models but as a carefully proportioned standalone architecture. With a thickness of 12.00 mm and a 19 mm lug width, the watch delivers a balanced and compact presence on the wrist. Despite its reduced dimensions, the model retains the full functionality expected from a Fifty Fathoms diver, including a 120-click unidirectional rotating bezel with a domed sapphire insert.

Each case features Blancpain’s signature engraving at 9 o’clock and a screw-down crown, contributing to a water resistance rating of 300 meters. The model’s refined size enhances versatility while staying true to the tool watch ethos of the original 1953 Fifty Fathoms.

Dial Execution and Strap Options

The dial is available in two distinct sunburst finishes—deep black or oceanic blue—with color-matched bezels and subtle gradient effects under varying light conditions. Applied Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9, and 12 are paired with bar markers, all filled with Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility in low-light environments. A discreet date window is located at 4:30, blending into the dial color to maintain symmetry and visual harmony.

The movement is visible through the sapphire display caseback, revealing high-end finishing that includes Geneva stripes and a signed rotor. Though the case has been reduced in size, no compromise has been made on mechanical performance or aesthetic quality.

The collection spans a range of premium materials. The stainless steel models are priced between CHF 14,000 and CHF 16,300, depending on the chosen strap or bracelet. The grade 23 titanium models range from CHF 15,000 to CHF 17,700, offering a lightweight yet rugged alternative. The 18k red gold versions are available only on strap configurations and are priced at CHF 25,600 with a pin buckle and CHF 28,500 with a deployant clasp.
