MoonSwatch Earthphase Series Continues With “Popcorn” Edition
Swatch has unveiled a new chapter in its ongoing MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase series: the Moonshine Gold “Popcorn.” Released to coincide with the September Corn Moon, this edition introduces a playful popcorn box motif on the Moonshine Gold-coated moon phase disc. It follows August’s Sturgeon Moon edition, which featured a net-inspired design.
Design and Details
The watch retains the now-familiar Mission to Earthphase aesthetic, with its deep blue case and dial. Snoopy and Woodstock return to the scene, reinforcing the lighthearted theme of this special line. The highlight is, of course, the moon phase disc, which has been given a whimsical twist with the popcorn box decoration — a detail that underscores Swatch’s ability to merge storytelling and creativity in unexpected ways.
Aside from the updated moon disc, the technical specifications remain unchanged, keeping consistency across the Earthphase releases.
Availability
The MoonSwatch Mission to Earthphase Moonshine Gold “Popcorn” will be available exclusively on Monday, September 8th in select Swatch boutiques worldwide. Retail price is €385.
A Personal Note
I must confess, I hesitated to write about another MoonSwatch while the watch industry’s attention is fixed on the latest novelties from Geneva Watch Days. At first, I felt reluctant — a mix of exhaustion and a sense that the MoonSwatch saga risks becoming an ailment that drags on longer than it should. What began as a brilliant idea has, in my view, slowly lost its spark, with only the occasional release standing out as fresh or surprising.
The latest ‘Popcorn’ edition feels less like innovation and more like repetition in a flashy costume. Here’s hoping Swatch finds its spark again soon.
