Montblanc Presents the New Iced Sea and Geosphere 0 Oxygen
Iced Sea
Introduced for the first time last year in the Montblanc collection, this year it reappears with new variants with a green and grey dial.
The watches have the particularity of coming with unique dials inspired by the glaciers of Montblanc, as each one requires 30 days of work to be done using the so-called “gratté-boisé” technique.
The watch is based on a 41mm diameter steel case that comes with a ceramic bezel insert.
Inside it comes equipped with the Caliber MB 24.17 based on the Sellita SW 200 with an automatic movement that runs at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 38 hours of power reserve.
The watches are offered with a steel bracelet or a rubber strap, both with an adjustability and interchangeability system.
The price to pay is €3,150 for either bracelet or strap option and if you later decide to add the other strap option, the price for both is exactly the same, €200.
1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen The 8000
These watches, as the name implies, come without oxygen inside, which makes them work better and doesn’t run the risk of fogging.
The dial, which like the Iced Sea requires 30 days to be made, shows what the stone looks like at 8,000m altitude, as it is dedicated to the 14 highest peaks in the world with altitudes over 8,000m.
There are two limited editions of 290 pieces each, a chronograph one made in collaboration with Reinhold Messner, the first mountaineer in the world to overcome the 14 peaks without using oxygen, and another as a regular version without the chronograph function with Nimsdai Purja, the fastest mountaineer in the world to hit the 14 peaks.
Both editions come with two rotating globes representing the north and south hemispheres in shades of blue and a date window. They also add the particularity of the case back to come with the titanium oxidation of the 14 peaks and their names and altitudes for the chronograph version and with the K2 peak for the regular version with time and date.
The two watches wear a titanium case measuring 44 and 42mm for the chronograph and regular versions, respectively, and are equipped with an automatic movement MB 29.27 and MB 29.25.
Both watches are supplied with a titanium bracelet matching the case and an extra black strap whose texture is inspired by the surface of ropes used in mountaineering.
It should also be noted that there are also two regular editions made of stainless steel one in 42mm from chronograph and the other in 41mm for the time and date functions, that come without the rotating globes.
