Monochrome Adds A Golden Touch To The Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre
For its fifth Montre de Souscription, Monochrome returns to Angelus and its historically inspired monopusher chronograph, unveiling a new Chronographe Tachymètre edition distinguished by a warm 2N yellow gold dial. Limited to just 20 pieces, this version builds on the Chronographe Tachymètre platform introduced by Angelus at Watches & Wonders 2025, while introducing subtle but meaningful aesthetic refinements.

Dial and Display
The most notable update is the newly developed 2N yellow gold dial, which features a fine grained surface rather than a sunburst or lacquered finish. This texture enhances legibility while reinforcing the watch’s vintage character. The tachymeter scale is printed along the periphery of the dial, with a clean, uninterrupted layout that avoids excessive segmentation between scales, resulting in a more cohesive overall appearance.

Applied hour markers add a discreet sense of depth, while the two recessed sub-dials are finished with azurage, offering contrast without overpowering the restrained design. The typography throughout the dial remains period-correct, echoing mid-20th-century chronographs and aligning closely with Angelus’ historical references.
Case and Wearability
Housed in a compact 37 mm stainless steel case, the Chronographe Tachymètre maintains proportions that are increasingly rare in modern chronographs. With a thickness of just over 9 mm, the watch sits low on the wrist, aided further by the monopusher construction integrated into the crown. The case is primarily brushed, with polished accents used sparingly to highlight its lines without distracting from the overall profile.

Water resistance is rated at 30 metres, consistent with traditional chronograph construction and aligned with the watch’s vintage-inspired positioning.
Movement: Calibre A5000
Powering the watch is the Angelus Calibre A5000, a manually wound monopusher chronograph movement produced by La Joux-Perret. The calibre traces its origins back to the celebrated THA monopusher chronograph architecture, itself derived from the ultra-thin Peseux 7001 base. This lineage places the movement among a small group of historically significant slim chronograph calibres.

The A5000 operates at a frequency of 3Hz (21,600 vph), contains 23 jewels, and offers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours. Its use of an oscillating pinion contributes to the calibre’s slim construction and mechanical efficiency.

In this Monochrome edition, the movement is finished with 3N gold-coated bridges and plates, complemented by Geneva stripes, perlage on the baseplate, and cleanly executed anglage. While the finishing remains understated, it is appropriate for a movement designed with historical fidelity and functional elegance in mind.
Strap and Availability
The watch is delivered on a grey nubuck leather strap, paired with a stainless steel pin buckle, maintaining a neutral and versatile aesthetic that complements the gold-toned dial.
The Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre x Monochrome Montre de Souscription 5 is limited to a maximum of 20 pieces. Orders are taken during a dedicated 10-day subscription window starting on January 29th at 15:00 CET, subject to availability. Our Take
We don’t hide the fact that we’ve been fans of the Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre since its launch. Its restrained vintage proportions, Duo-Compax dial layout, and monopusher chronograph architecture driven by a manual-winding movement make it a particularly compelling proposition. This new Monochrome Montre de Souscription 5 edition further enriches the collection, with its textured yellow gold dial standing out as our favourite execution to date. The only real drawback remains the price, which—once taxes are included—will comfortably exceed the twenty-thousand-euro mark.
