Modena Automobili Revives The Maserati Shamal With A Powerful Modern Twist
Modena Automobili has unveiled the MA-01 Biturbo Shamal, a restomod that redefines the legendary Maserati Biturbo with cutting-edge performance and style. Originally launched in 1982 under Alejandro De Tomaso, the Maserati Biturbo quickly became a symbol of Italian automotive innovation. This revamped version combines classic design with advanced technology.
Legacy Meets Modern Power
The original Shamal, introduced in 1989 to mark Maserati’s 75th anniversary, boasted a V8 twin-turbo engine and a bold design by Marcello Gandini. Today, the MA-01 Biturbo Shamal maintains that aggressive edge with a 3.0L twin-turbo V6, producing 500 horsepower and reaching 0-100 km/h in 5.0 seconds. Enhanced with modern suspension, Brembo brakes, and a ZF 8-speed transmission, the MA-01 promises a thrilling drive.
A Sleek, Muscular Design
The restomod’s body combines steel and carbon fiber, showcasing a bold front grille, LED headlights, and reimagined wheel arches. Inside, luxury and functionality converge with Recaro seats, a TFT digital instrument cluster, and the iconic analogue clock.
Exclusivity and Customization
Only 33 units will be crafted in Modena. Each MA-01 is priced from €585,000 and offers full customization. This modern masterpiece honours Maserati’s heritage and craftsmanship while redefining what a grand tourer can be.
