MING Introduces The 37.02 Monolith: A Sleek Evolution In The 37.02 Line
Independent watchmaker MING continues to expand its 37-series with the launch of the 37.02 Monolith, a limited-production model that builds on the core platform of the 37.02 while introducing a bolder visual identity. Combining the brand’s refined aesthetics with proprietary luminescent technology and a stealth-focused design, the Monolith presents a distinctive take on modern minimalism.
Case Construction and Dimensions
The 37.02 Monolith retains the case architecture of its predecessors, constructed in stainless steel and treated with a matte anthracite DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating. This surface treatment gives the watch a dark, non-reflective finish that visually compresses its profile. The case measures 38 mm in diameter, 11 mm in thickness, and offers a 44.50 mm lug-to-lug length, delivering a compact yet balanced wrist presence. The double-domed sapphire crystal on both the dial and caseback provides durability and clarity, while the large, notched crown incorporates a dual-gasket system to secure the watch’s 100-meter water resistance.

Dial and Luminescence
The watch features a transparent sapphire dial that responds dramatically to changes in lighting. Under certain conditions, it appears jet black and absorptive; under others, it reflects ambient light with mirror-like clarity. The chapter ring features laser-cut grooves filled with MING’s proprietary Polar White luminous compound, known for its full-spectrum white emission—uncommon in modern lume applications. The hour and minute hands are fitted with Super-LumiNova X1, offering a contrasting blue glow to complement the white markers. Branding is kept minimal, with a discreet “MING” signature at 6 o’clock.

Movement and Finishing
Inside the Monolith is a modified Sellita SW300-1 automatic movement, customized for MING with skeletonized anthracite-finished bridges, plates, and rotor. The caliber operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a 45-hour power reserve. Its finishing is visible through the transparent caseback, maintaining MING’s commitment to visual detail even on components usually hidden from view.

Strap and Availability
The Monolith comes equipped with a mango-colored FKM rubber strap, paired with a black DLC-coated tuck buckle. The strap adds a pop of contrast while ensuring comfort and durability in various conditions.

The MING 37.02 Monolith is limited to 100 pieces annually, reinforcing the brand’s focus on controlled production. The model is priced at CHF 3,500 and is available through ming.watch and select authorized retailers.
