Minase Unveils New Yusai Dial Collection Inspired By Nature
Japanese watchmaker Minase has unveiled a new series of handcrafted Yusai dials, created in collaboration with Tokyo-based artist Towa Takaya. The collection introduces these artistic dials to three of the brand’s signature models — the 5 Windows Mid, 7 Windows, and Divido — combining Minase’s precise engineering with Takaya’s nature-inspired artistry.
The Art of Yusai Dials
The term Yusai combines two Japanese characters: Yū, meaning a gentle, eternal flow of time, and Sai, representing vibrant color and movement. Together, they reflect the essence of these dials — dynamic surfaces that shift subtly with light, capturing the organic rhythm of nature.

Towa Takaya, born in Tokyo in 1992, creates pigments using natural materials such as soil, plants, and minerals gathered during her travels. Each dial she crafts is intended to express the beauty of nature itself, emphasizing texture, tone, and luminosity rather than uniform perfection.
Minase President Tsuyoshi Suzuki praised the collaboration, noting that Takaya’s dials “embody nature’s ever-changing palette, created with materials drawn directly from the natural world.”
5 Windows Mid “Pluralist Garden”
The 5 Windows Mid model features a dial composed of layered blue-green pigments inspired by the calm atmosphere of a Japanese garden. Gentle shades of yellow, blue, and green evoke reflections of water and light, creating a tranquil, multidimensional effect.

The watch’s rectangular stainless steel case measures 32 mm × 40.30 mm × 11.60 mm and is surrounded by five sapphire crystals, giving the impression that the dial is floating within the case. Each surface is hand-finished using Minase’s signature Sallaz polishing, requiring more than 30 hours of work per watch. Powering the timepiece is the reliable ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement, offering a 50-hour power reserve and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
7 Windows “Otherwise than Being”
In the 7 Windows model, the dial takes on deep blue tones intended to evoke a sense of stillness and suspension. The complex case-in-case architecture features a 38 mm stainless steel case with seven sapphire panels, including five transparent side “windows” that allow light to flow through the design and reveal the movement inside. Despite its intricate construction, the watch maintains 50 meters of water resistance. The case is fully Sallaz-polished, highlighting Minase’s dedication to Japanese craftsmanship and finishing artistry.

Divido “Falling Stars and Mirage”
The Divido “Falling Stars and Mirage” offers a unique expression of Takaya’s technique, featuring a mother-of-pearl base layered with hand-applied natural pigments. The resulting blue-purple surface resembles a shifting sky — luminous, iridescent, and deeply textured. This model measures 40.50 mm × 48 mm × 11 mm and houses the same ETA 2892-A2 automatic caliber found in the 5 and 7 Windows models. Its case combines sharp lines with a floating dial concept, reinforcing the architectural aesthetic shared across the Minase collection.

Availability and Pricing
Each Yusai-dial watch is made to order and available exclusively through Minase’s official international webshop. Due to the artisanal process, production time is estimated at approximately three months, and because of their bespoke nature, returns or exchanges are not accepted.

The Divido “Falling Stars and Mirage” and the 7 Windows “Otherwise than Being” are priced at USD 9,100 when fitted with a steel bracelet and USD 7,800 on a leather strap. The 5 Windows Mid “Pluralist Garden” costs USD 8,200 on a steel bracelet and USD 6,900 on a leather strap.
A Dialogue Between Art, Nature, and Time
With the introduction of these Yusai dials, Minase continues to blur the lines between horology and art. The collaboration with Towa Takaya reflects the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship that goes beyond precision — a celebration of Japanese artistry, material beauty, and the natural world captured within the confines of a wristwatch.
