Mido continues to expand its Ocean Star lineup with the introduction of a new Ocean Star 200C variant that emphasizes classic dive-watch contrast and bold color accents. While the technical foundation remains firmly rooted in the Ocean Star family’s proven formula, this new reference stands apart through its natural stainless steel case, black wave-patterned dial, and a striking red ceramic bezel inspired by tropical sunsets.
Case and Bezel: Classic Steel with a Bold Accent
The watch is housed in a 42.50 mm stainless steel case, maintaining the sporty proportions and robust construction expected from the Ocean Star collection. The case features integrated crown guards protecting the screw-down crown, reinforcing its tool-watch credentials and ensuring durability during active use.
Surrounding the dial is a unidirectional rotating diving bezel fitted with a red ceramic insert. The glossy ceramic surface offers excellent resistance to scratches and fading, while the vivid red tone evokes the glow of a sunset over tropical waters, adding a dynamic visual contrast to the otherwise monochromatic dial.
A box-shaped sapphire crystal tops the case, combining modern scratch resistance with a subtle vintage-inspired profile. The watch is water-resistant to 200 meters, making it suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and recreational diving.
Dial: Functional Design with Subtle Texture
The black dial features a wave-patterned texture, a recurring design element within the Ocean Star range that references the collection’s maritime roots. This textured surface adds depth while preserving a clean, highly legible layout.

On the reverse, the screw-in case back is engraved with Mido’s traditional starfish motif in relief, a long-standing symbol of the Ocean Star collection and its association with water resistance and reliability. Together with the screw-down crown and solid construction, this ensures the watch’s 200m water resistance remains uncompromised.
Movement: Caliber 80 with Extended Power Reserve
Powering the Ocean Star 200C is the Mido Caliber 80, an automatic movement based on the ETA C07.621 architecture. Operating at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz), it delivers a substantial power reserve of up to 80 hours, allowing the watch to run for several days off the wrist.
The movement is equipped with a Nivachron balance spring, which improves resistance to magnetic fields, temperature variations, and shocks—key attributes for a modern everyday sports watch.
Strap: Understated and Functional
This new version is paired with a brown leather strap with a smooth, understated finish, deliberately avoiding embossed or crocodile-style patterns. The strap enhances comfort and versatility while complementing the warm tones of the red bezel.
