Orient, a brand cherished for its affordable mechanical timepieces, is making meaningful strides toward sustainability. The beloved Orient Bambino line now embraces an eco-friendly twist, introducing a solar quartz movement, plant-based straps, and a clean, no-date dial for the first time in the model’s history.

A Sustainable Take on a Classic Design

The new Orient Bambino Solar watches retain the timeless elegance of the original, featuring a 38mm stainless steel case with a balanced mix of polished and brushed finishes. The design remains unmistakably Bambino, with domed mineral glass enhancing its vintage appeal, a smooth bezel, slender lugs, and a fluted crown placed at the 3 o’clock position. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, and the solid case back ensures a classic, understated look.

Classic Dial, Modern Touch

The curved dial maintains the Bambino’s vintage charm with applied Roman numerals and dauphine-style hands. A printed minute and second track runs around the edge of the dial, marked by two-digit numerals every five minutes for easy readability. The Orient logo is positioned proudly at 12 o’clock, balanced by the discreet “Water Resistance” marking at 6 o’clock. Notably, the dial features no date window, offering a cleaner, more symmetrical aesthetic.

Summer-Ready and Classic Colorways

The new Bambino Solar line includes three dial options ideal for the summer season. The reference RA-WK0002E features a pale blue dial housed in a standard stainless steel case, while RA-WP0005P offers a pale pink dial with the same case configuration. For a touch of elegance, the RA-WK0001S comes with a white dial set in a yellow gold-plated steel case, complete with gilt accents on the dial. All three summer-inspired models are paired with white straps made from synthetic apple leather — a sustainable material derived from upcycled apple waste, such as cores and pomace.

In addition to the seasonal offerings, Orient has introduced two more classic variants. The RA-WK0004L features a black dial paired with a matching black plant-based strap, ideal for those who prefer a timeless look. Meanwhile, the RA-WK0003G presents an ivory dial enhanced with striking heated-blue hands, also accompanied by a black eco-friendly strap.

Inside these new models beats the VS213 solar-powered quartz movement, capable of harnessing energy from both natural and artificial light. When fully charged, the movement provides an impressive power reserve of up to six months, reducing the need for battery replacements and reinforcing the watch’s environmentally conscious design.

The new Orient Bambino Solar models are positioned attractively in terms of pricing. The standard stainless steel versions are available for USD 340, while the yellow gold-plated steel model is priced slightly higher at USD 365. This pricing strategy places the solar models below the traditional automatic Bambino range, making them an appealing choice for those seeking sustainable style without compromising on affordability or aesthetics.
