McLaren 788HS: The Ultimate Farewell To The 720S Generation

McLaren has unveiled the 788HS, a limited-production supercar that represents the final evolution of the platform introduced with the 720S in 2017. Developed by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), production is limited to 200 examples worldwide, split between 100 Coupes and 100 Spiders.

Power comes from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 788 hp, enabling the 788HS to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph).

The new model stands out with a significantly revised aerodynamic package that includes a bespoke front splitter, an S-Duct integrated into the bonnet, forged centre-lock wheels, a fixed rear wing, larger cooling vents, a quad-exhaust system and the largest diffuser ever fitted to a McLaren based on the 720S platform. These upgrades deliver approximately 10% more downforce than the 765LT.

Despite the additional aerodynamic components, McLaren has reduced the car’s dry weight to just 1,265 kg, thanks to its lightweight engineering philosophy.

Inside, the cabin features Senna-derived lightweight seats, extensive carbon-fibre trim and Alcantara upholstery. Every example will be individually commissioned through MSO, allowing owners to create a fully bespoke specification.

With an expected starting price of around € 528,000 (approximately GBP 450,000) before customization, the McLaren 788HS closes the chapter on one of the brand’s most successful supercar generations while offering collectors one of its rarest road cars to date.
