Mathey-Tissot And Massena Lab Team Up Again To Present The New Chronograph ’68
Mathey-Tissot and Massena LAB collaborate again, in what is the fourth partnership between the two brands, to present the new Chronograph ’68.
Evoking the Swinging spirit of the 60s comes a Tri-Compax chronograph with a retro look highlighted by its colourful counters and pump-style pushers.
Suppose Massena LAB needs no introduction, mainly due to its numerous collaborations with several prestigious watchmaking brands, Mathey-Tissot, despite being over a century old, may not be very familiar to many readers, as the Swiss watchmaking brand has been away from the spotlight in recent years. Nevertheless has a fabulous history of producing and supplying chronographs to entities such as the North American Army, and Breguet, among others, which clearly shows its specialization in the design of these timepieces.
Thus, the new ’68 timepiece arrives in a stainless steel case measuring 41mm in diameter and 15.30mm thick, which features a brushed finish on the surfaces and polished on the sides, a unidirectional bezel with a 60-minute black insert and an inverted triangle with a pip-lume marking the noon, box-shaped sapphire crystal, fluted crown with brand’s signature and flanked by two pushers, screwed solid case back and 50m water resistance.
The black dial features a layout of three sub-dials in positions 3-6-9 substantiated by a 30-minute counter with a minute track that alternates between red and blue every 5 minutes, a running seconds with a blue track and a 12-hour counter also with a blue track. We can also find a white tachymeter chapter ring, silver baton hour markers matching the background tone of the three counters mentioned above, two pencil hands and a lollipop chronograph centre seconds, all filled with the same luminescent material as the pip on the bezel, and lastly, the vintage brand’s lettering at noon.
Inside, runs the Caliber Landeron 73 automatic movement similar to the Valjoux 7750, which reaches 28,800 Vph and offers up to 43 hours of power reserve.
The timepiece arrives attached to a blue calfskin leather strap with a steel buckle, and it is a limited edition of 99 pieces that are now on sale exclusively at the Massena LAB online store for the price of USD 1,495.
