M.A.D. 1 Returns Now In Green
After the blue versions that marked its debut and the red version that we saw arrive last year, M.A.D. 1 now arrives in green, which for now seems the prettiest of all.
The fun watch whose reading of the time is perhaps its biggest challenge is back to the delight of many enthusiasts and once again in the “best” hue, we’ve seen so far.
If other watch enthusiasts yearn for technical and aesthetic innovations in the new releases at M.A.D. 1 this need does not exist, at least for now, because despite its otherworldly appearance, the watch easily puts a smile on our faces and awakens curiosity around it.
In addition to the good news of its return, the price considered “accessible” remains unchanged at CHF 2,900. The less exciting news is that the number of pieces produced in the first round and without certainty as to whether there will be others, is the same as the red version, 1,500 units, which if we consider a list of more than two tens of thousands of people, sounds crazy.
What can we expect from the new M.A.D. 1? Guided by its traditional design, it arrives in a 42mm by 18.80mm stainless steel case that comes with a polished finish, sculpted lugs, a crown at noon, skeletonized dial protected by sapphire crystal, which reveals a green inner ring on the periphery inscribed in white with “M.A.D. 1” at 6 o’clock and the automatic movement in the centre with the usual three-blade titanium rotor.
And for those who are now familiarizing themselves with the watch for the first time and are wondering how the time can be read, the answer is given through the two rings on the watch’s profile which are inscribed with Arabic numerals filled with Super-LumiNova. The hours are shown in the green ring at the top, while the minutes are set in the black ring below, which rotates and through the small central arrow at 6 o’clock, also placed on the profile of the watch, provides the lecture of real-time.
Inside runs the movement based on the modified Miyota 8315, which reaches 21,600 Bph and offers up to 60 hours of power reserve.
The watch comes attached to a black perforated strap with green stitching.
Finally, if you are one of the enthusiasts who would like to purchase one of these new M.A.D. 1 Green, don’t lose hope, as you have two weeks to register, the 1,500 available units will be drawn and chances are equal for all registrants.
