Zenith’s big bet for 2023 seems to be its Defy line with the presentation of several models at LVMH Watch Week, but let’s go by parts.
Defy Skyline Skeleton
Introduced exactly one year ago at the same event, the Defy Skyline now appears in a more contemporary version with an open dial and a more balanced one.
The dial that retains the basic functions of the watch provided by the hour and minute hands in the centre and applied hour markers all filled with luminescent material, small seconds now positioned at 6 o’clock, supported by a structure of fine bridges geometrically positioned in shades of blue or black, where the previous data window no longer has space.
On the outside, a 41mm diameter stainless steel case and bracelet with finishes that alternate between brushed and polished, sapphire glass on the front and on the case back that highlights the oscillating weight in the shape of a star and in the same hue as the bridges of the dial.
But the main “star” of the Skyline remains its high-frequency automatic movement El Primero 3260, which operates at 36,000 Vph and offers up to 60 hours of power reserve.

Defy Extreme Glacier
Another of the main novelties is the new Defy Extreme Glacier, which wears a robust 45mm diameter case in brushed titanium and chalcedony (a stone with a blue hue) applied to the bezel frames and chronograph pushers.
The semi-transparent sapphire dial features 3 silver registers at 3-6-9 o’clock, applied hour markers and central hands all filled with blue luminescent material and a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock.
Inside, it is powered by the powerful El Primero 9004, a high-frequency movement of 5 Hz and which offers up to 50 hours of power reserve.
It is a limited edition of only 50 units.

Defy Skyline 36mm
There is also the introduction of a new size in the Skyline model, which now appears in a more moderate version of 36mm in diameter.
This new version features a more classic layout, joining the second hand to the central hour and minute hands and maintaining the discreet date window at 3 o’clock. The dial which continues to come with the star-shaped pattern is offered in blue, mint green or bright pink.
Inside, the brand decided instead to opt for its reliable Elite 670 automatic movement, which operates at 28,800 Vph and offers up to 50 hours of power reserve.

Lastly and among the new additions is an exclusive 41mm Defy Skyline, which comes with a grey dial and rose gold accents.
The dial which comes with the traditional star-shaped pattern maintains the same layout of applied hour markers and hands in the centre, framed date window at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9.
On the outside, everything remains unchanged, 41mm case and bracelet in stainless steel, sapphire crystal, crown at three o’clock and 100m of water resistance.
