The new Esprit Flinqué marks another creative step forward for Louis Erard, continuing its mission to reinterpret traditional decorative crafts in a modern, accessible format. Built around the brand’s signature regulator display, this release focuses on texture, depth, and an unconventional dial architecture that stands apart in its segment.

A Regulator Designed for Visual Complexity

At the heart of the watch is the regulator layout—a configuration that separates hours, minutes, and seconds across different axes for improved legibility and visual impact. In the Esprit Flinqué, this concept is pushed further through a multi-layered construction that gives the dial a striking sense of depth.

The composition unfolds across three distinct levels. At the base sits a textured surface decorated with a fluted pattern that radiates outward from the center. Above it, two skeletonised sub-dials are positioned along a vertical axis, with the hours displayed at 12 o’clock and the seconds at 6 o’clock. Crowning the layout is a raised central disc dedicated to the minutes, which dominates the dial both visually and functionally.

This model also introduces skeletonised elements for the first time in a Louis Erard watch, allowing glimpses of the underlying structure and enhancing the mechanical character of the piece. The minutes are indicated by the brand’s signature fir-tree hand, sweeping across a clean scale rendered in crisp white sans-serif numerals. Hours and seconds, on the other hand, are read via pointer markers integrated into the frame surrounding the central disc. In keeping with the minimalist approach, the dial remains free of branding, with only a discreet “Swiss Made” inscription visible.

Inspired by Flinqué Enamel

The defining feature of the Esprit Flinqué lies in its dial treatment, which draws inspiration from the traditional art of flinqué enamel. This decorative technique combines an engraved metal base with translucent enamel to create depth and complex light effects.

Rather than directly replicating the technique, Louis Erard interprets its visual essence through stamped patterns and lacquered finishes. The fluted grooves across the dial interact with light in a dynamic way, creating shifting reflections and shadows that change depending on the viewing angle.

Two variations are available. One features a light blue base paired with a deep cobalt minutes disc, while the other adopts a light grey base contrasted by a darker grey minutes display. In both cases, the interplay between the softer lower layer and the more intense upper disc enhances the three-dimensional effect and gives the watch a refined yet contemporary presence.

Case and Build

The watch is housed in a polished stainless steel case measuring 39 mm in diameter, with a thickness of 12.82 mm and a lug-to-lug distance of 45.90 mm, proportions that strike a balance between elegance and everyday wearability. The dial is protected by a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, ensuring clarity in various lighting conditions. Turning the watch over reveals a transparent caseback, which offers a view of the movement inside.

Movement

Powering the Esprit Flinqué is the manually wound Sellita SW266-1 in élaboré grade. It beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. The movement is visible through the sapphire caseback and features a rotor decorated with a black lacquered Louis Erard logo.

Straps and Wearability

Each version of the watch is paired with a grained calfskin strap that complements the dial color. The blue model is matched with a beige strap for a warmer contrast, while the grey version comes with a matching grey strap for a more understated aesthetic. Both are fitted with polished steel pin buckles and benefit from quick-release spring bars, allowing easy strap changes without tools.

The Esprit Flinqué is released as a limited edition of just 99 pieces per color, reinforcing its exclusivity. It is priced at CHF 3,990 (excluding taxes), positioning it competitively within the segment of artistic, Swiss-made mechanical watches.
