Laurent Ferrier Classic Auto Horizon: A Permanent Addition With Refined Mechanics
Laurent Ferrier has officially added the Classic Auto Horizon to its permanent collection, expanding its portfolio with a model that merges classical elegance with the technical sophistication of a micro-rotor movement. Originally launched as a limited “Série Atelier” edition during Geneva Watch Days 2024, the Horizon now returns with a striking new dial and the same refined mechanical core.

Case and Design
The watch features a 40mm stainless steel case with the hallmark Galet (“pebble”) shape, characterized by its smooth, rounded contours. These lines are inspired by 19th-century pocket watches and demonstrate Ferrier’s commitment to classic watchmaking forms. The case is polished throughout and designed for ergonomics and wrist comfort, measuring 11.90mm in thickness, offering a balance between formality and wearability.

Dial Architecture
The dial introduces a lacquered gradient “Horizon Blue” finish, designed to reflect changing light conditions. The central portion of the dial features a vertical satin-brushed texture, while the outer minute track is treated with a circular brushed finish—a traditional layout that enhances visual clarity. A crosshair motif intersects the dial, a recurring design element in Ferrier’s portfolio.
The white gold Assegai-shaped hands and applied drop-shaped indices provide contrast and legibility. At 3 o’clock, a subtle date window is framed in a dark blue outline, contributing to the watch’s balance while also evoking the brand’s historical ties to automotive design. A small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock, decorated with snailing, adds further textural complexity to the overall composition.
Movement: LF 270.01
The Classic Auto Horizon is powered by the caliber LF 270.01, an automatic movement with a micro-rotor winding system, originally developed for the Sport Auto. This movement features a platinum micro-rotor, engraved with a feather-inspired motif to reduce inertia while maximizing energy transfer.
The movement operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and delivers a 72-hour power reserve. It is equipped with a Swiss lever escapement, prioritizing robustness and long-term reliability. While this design departs from Laurent Ferrier’s signature natural escapement, it remains highly refined and suitable for a more versatile, daily-wear model.
Each LF 270.01 movement undergoes over 139 manual finishing operations, all performed in-house. Finishing includes rhodium-plated Côtes de Genève on the bridges, a hallmark of haute horlogerie craftsmanship.
Availability and Pricing
Unlike previous iterations, the Classic Auto Horizon is not limited and will be part of the brand’s continuous offering. It is priced at CHF 45,000, reflecting both the level of artisanal finishing and the technical complexity of the movement.
