Lamborghini Temerario: A New Era Of Performance
The Lamborghini Temerario is set to replace the Huracán, bringing a powerful hybrid powertrain that draws inspiration from the larger Revuelto. Unlike its predecessor’s naturally aspirated V10, the Temerario is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 (codename L411), producing 800 hp between 9000 rpm and 9750 rpm, with a redline at 10,000 rpm. Despite the similar displacement, this engine is unique and not shared with other V8s found in other brands, or the Lamborghini Urus.
In addition to the V8, the Temerario features a hybrid system with three axial flux electric motors, each with a peak output of 110 kW (150 hp). Two motors power the front wheels independently, contributing to the four-wheel drive system with a combined continuous power output of 120 kW (164 hp) and adding 73 kg to the car’s weight. The third electric motor is positioned between the engine and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, helping eliminate turbo lag by providing up to 300 Nm of torque.
Combined, the hybrid system and the V8 engine deliver a total of 920 hp. Unlike most plug-in hybrids focused on efficiency, the Temerario’s small 3.8 kWh battery is designed for performance, cutting CO2 emissions by 50% compared to the Huracán but offering a limited electric-only range.
The hybrid system adds weight, with the Temerario having a dry weight of 1,690 kg, which is 310 kg heavier than the Huracán Tecnica. With fluids, the weight exceeds 1800 kg. To mitigate this, an optional Alleggerita package offers weight reductions through the use of carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) components. Despite its weight, the Temerario accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 343 km/h. Braking is handled by carbon-ceramic brakes, with 410 mm x 38 mm discs at the front and 390 mm x 32 mm at the rear.
Built on a new aluminium space frame platform, the Temerario offers 20% greater torsional rigidity and improved visibility over the Huracán. The design is an evolution of the Huracán, incorporating elements from the Revuelto but with a hexagonal motif instead of the “Y” motif. The interior is spacious, accommodating passengers up to 2 meters tall, and features multiple screens: a 12.3″ digital instrument cluster, an 8.4″ central touchscreen, and a 9.1″ passenger display. The front trunk has a capacity of 112 litres, with additional storage space behind the seats.
The Lamborghini Temerario is expected to launch at the end of this year or early next, with a price higher than the Huracán due to its advanced technology and performance.
