In 2025, German watchmaker Laco celebrates a century of watchmaking heritage with the launch of a special timepiece: the Laco Frieda, a limited edition created exclusively for the brand’s “100 Years – 100 Days – 100 Watches” campaign.

A Tribute to the Brand’s Origins

Unlike Laco’s traditional naming conventions, which typically draw inspiration from cities or geographical features, the Frieda is named in honor of Frieda Lacher, co-founder of Laco. In 1925, Lacher played a pivotal role in establishing the brand during an era when female leadership in business was a rarity. This timepiece pays tribute to her contribution and to the enduring spirit of Laco’s beginnings.

A Limited Edition Pilot’s Watch

The Laco Frieda adopts the classic Type A Flieger-style layout that has long defined the brand’s identity. Its most distinctive feature is a grainy red dial, a bold choice that aligns with Laco’s signature brand color. The dial texture evokes a sandy, almost mineral appearance that stands out among traditional pilot watch aesthetics.

Encasing the dial is a 42 mm sandblasted stainless steel case, which offers a matte, utilitarian finish. The watch is paired with a grey leather strap accented by red stitching, creating a strong visual link to the dial while maintaining the functionality expected from a tool watch.

Movement and Technical Specifications

Inside, the Frieda is powered by the Laco 2S automatic movement, which is based on the reliable Miyota 82S0. The movement operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and delivers a power reserve of up to 42 hours. It is a robust and time-tested calibre that supports the functional demands of a pilot’s watch.

Each of the 100 timepieces is individually numbered on the caseback, ranging from 1/100 to 100/100. The left-hand side of the stainless steel case also features a special “1925–2025” engraving, commemorating the centennial milestone. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal, and the watch includes water resistance suitable for daily wear.

The Laco Frieda will not be available for purchase. Instead, Laco will be distributing one piece per day across a 100-day span, beginning July 19th and ending October 26th, 2025.
