Kurono Tokyo Introduces Special Project 2025: The 34mm Star Dial
Kurono Tokyo has unveiled its Special Project 2025, introducing the new 34mm Star Dial timepieces. These latest models continue the legacy of the Art Deco 34mm collection, first launched in 2022 with simple three-hand time-only functionality. The collection expanded in 2023 with four new models, including sector dials, and was further enhanced last year with the addition of Breguet numerals. Now, the series welcomes dials featuring distinctive star-shaped indexes, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to vintage-inspired aesthetics.
Maintaining the same refined proportions, the new Kurono Tokyo Star Dial watches are housed in a stainless steel case measuring 34mm in diameter, 9.60mm in thickness, and 41mm in length. The case boasts a mix of brushed and polished finishing, exuding a classic yet modern appeal. A box-shaped sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a stepped bezel and fluted crown at 3 o’clock complete the sophisticated look. The solid screw-down case back ensures durability, and the watch is water-resistant up to 50 meters.
Inspired by the 1930s and 1940s, the dials come in either a deep blue or warm copper hue, featuring a sunray-brushed finish at the center. The blue syringe-shaped hands are filled with luminescent material, enhancing visibility in low-light conditions. The off-white chapter ring displays black printed Arabic numerals in an elegant Art Deco font at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock, while polished, applied star-shaped hour markers adorn the remaining positions. A white railway track encircles the outer periphery, complementing the center’s tone.
At the heart of the Kurono Tokyo Special Project 2025 is the reliable Miyota 90S5 automatic movement. This 24-jewel caliber operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a power reserve of up to 40 hours, ensuring precision and reliability for everyday wear. The timepiece is completed with an 18mm grainy calf leather strap, secured by a stainless steel pin buckle for a comfortable and stylish fit.
Available in a limited production run, the Kurono Tokyo 34mm Star Dial will be available for purchase starting March 13th, with a retail price of USD 1,190 plus taxes. Each customer is limited to one variant per purchase, and shipments are expected to begin by the end of the month. As demand for Kurono Tokyo’s limited releases continues to grow, this latest addition to the brand’s lineup is expected to be highly sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
