King Seiko Vanac Makes A Comeback – Five Stunning Dials, Vintage Appeal
The iconic King Seiko Vanac from the 1970s makes a grand comeback, blending vintage-inspired design with contemporary craftsmanship. This modern reinterpretation pays homage to Tokyo’s dynamic skyline, featuring five striking dial variations. The collection includes the SLA083 with a rich purple dial accented in gilt, the SLA085 in deep blue, the SLA087 in silvery white with gilt highlights, the limited-edition SLA089 in brown with gilt details, and the SLA091 in exclusive ice blue, available only at boutiques.
Housed in a robust stainless steel case measuring 41mm in diameter and 14.30mm in thickness, the new Vanac showcases an angular, sporty aesthetic with an integrated bracelet. The case features a predominantly brushed finish, complemented by a box-shaped sapphire crystal that enhances its vintage appeal. A fluted crown at 3 o’clock, adorned with the King Seiko logo, adds a touch of refinement. The case back is screwed open, revealing the intricate movement inside while ensuring a solid 100m water resistance.
The dial design captures attention with its unique horizontal striped texture, enhanced by a 12-sided ring featuring vertical stripes. Luminous hour markers stand out, with an applied marker at 12 o’clock and a framed date window positioned next to the crown. The baton-style hands are filled with Lumibrite, ensuring visibility in low-light conditions, while the center seconds hand features a distinctive V-shaped counterbalance. The embossed Seiko logo at noon and the “Automatic 3 Days” inscription at 6 o’clock reinforce the watch’s legacy and mechanical excellence.
Powering this vintage-inspired masterpiece is the Caliber 8L45 automatic movement, a 35-jewel mechanism with an impressive accuracy of +10/-5 seconds per day. Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, this movement delivers a substantial 72-hour power reserve, ensuring reliable performance. The timepiece is completed with a stainless steel bracelet that combines brushed and polished finishes, secured with a folding clasp for a comfortable and refined fit.
The new King Seiko Vanac collection will be available starting in July 2025 at a retail price of €3,400. The SLA091 edition is limited to just 700 pieces, making it a sought-after collector’s item. With its fusion of heritage aesthetics and modern mechanical prowess, this latest release reaffirms King Seiko’s enduring appeal among watch enthusiasts.
