King Seiko Vanac Line Grows With Two New Dial Variants And Now On A Strap: SLA093 & SLA095.
Seiko continues its revival of the King Seiko Vanac line with two new references that build on the design language introduced earlier in the year. The historic Vanac name—originally associated with bold, architectural aesthetics in the early 1970s—returns once again with updated colors and the introduction of leather straps. The new King Seiko Vanac SLA093 and SLA095 offer a blend of vintage-inspired geometry, modern construction, and upgraded finishing.

Design Inspired by the 1970s Vanac Originals
Although the new Vanac series adopts a more refined approach compared to its flamboyant predecessors of the 1970s, the overall silhouette remains faithful to the era that defined the original models. Both watches feature the same multi-faceted case architecture introduced earlier this year. The case measures 41 mm in diameter, has a thickness of 14.30 mm, and spans 45.10 mm from lug to lug. These proportions combine a sharp, angular footprint reminiscent of early Vanac designs with dimensions suited for contemporary everyday wear.

The SLA093 introduces a deep brown dial, while the SLA095 presents a rich dark green finish. These two new variants expand the color palette of the modern Vanac line and complement the shapes and textures that define the collection.
Dial Execution and Finishing
The dials of both models continue the Vanac tradition of textured surfaces, using a vertical teak-deck pattern that adds visual depth and complexity. Each dial includes a raised minute track ring with luminous markers, gold-tone accents on the hands and indexes, and a framed date window positioned at three o’clock. According to Seiko, the chosen colors are inspired by the deep natural tones found in Tokyo’s historic forested areas, particularly those surrounding the Meiji Jingu and other central green spaces.

Movement: Seiko Caliber 8L45
Inside both models is the in-house automatic Caliber 8L45, produced at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio and closely related to Grand Seiko’s 9S55. This movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of approximately 72 hours. The stated accuracy is between plus 10 and minus 5 seconds per day, and the movement can be wound both automatically and manually. Its architecture ensures solid performance and reliability while maintaining a refined but functional level of finishing.
New Leather Strap Option
A notable change for these two references is the transition from the stainless steel bracelet to a leather strap, which gives both watches a different character. The SLA093 with the brown dial is paired with a matching brown leather strap, while the SLA095 with the green dial comes with a black leather strap. Both straps are fitted with a folding clasp that conceals the excess length of the strap inside the clasp mechanism. This design detail creates a cleaner appearance on the wrist and enhances overall comfort.
