King Seiko Vanac HKF005: A New Dial Inspired By Tokyo’s Night Lights
King Seiko Vanac collection takes its design language from one of the more distinctive chapters in Seiko’s history. Rather than revisiting the restrained proportions of earlier King Seiko models, the Vanac draws on the angular, integrated-style watches of the 1970s, combining a sharply faceted case with a high-end automatic movement derived from Grand Seiko’s 9S family.
For its latest steel reference, the Japanese manufacturer introduces the King Seiko Vanac HKF005, distinguished by a dark, glitter-like dial inspired by Tokyo’s city lights. The new reference joins the existing collection as a regular-production model, retaining the case, bracelet and movement architecture of the previous steel editions.
A sharply defined steel case
The HKF005 measures 41 mm in diameter and 14.30 mm in thickness, with a 45.10 mm lug-to-lug length. Its integrated-style construction helps keep the overall profile relatively compact for a watch of this size, while the pronounced case geometry remains central to its identity.

The case combines broad polished shoulders with brushed surfaces and sharply defined facets, creating a pronounced contrast between the different planes. The crown is partially recessed into the case, although its substantial dimensions make it practical to operate.
Instead of a conventional bezel, the watch uses a high box-shaped sapphire crystal to protect the dial. This construction preserves the uninterrupted appearance of the case and contributes to the watch’s distinctive profile. Water resistance is rated at 100 metres.
A dial inspired by Tokyo after dark
The defining feature of the HKF005 is its new dial. Seiko describes the colour as a dark “night sky” tone, positioned between black and an extremely deep grey-blue. Its appearance changes subtly with the surrounding light, while the glitter-like particles across the surface introduce a restrained sparkling effect.

The dial is intended to evoke the countless lights visible across Tokyo at night. The effect is achieved through a glitter-like treatment rather than aventurine, giving the surface a fine, textured appearance without turning it into a conventional decorative stone dial.
The design retains the characteristic elements of the Vanac collection, including the V-shaped marker at 12 o’clock and the horizontal grooves that run across the dial. Dark-coated hands complement the overall colour scheme, while their largely Lumibrite-filled surfaces preserve legibility in low-light conditions.
Grand Seiko-derived automatic movement
Powering the HKF005 is Seiko’s calibre 8L45, the same automatic movement used in the previous steel Vanac references. The calibre is based on the Grand Seiko 9S65, placing the watch within Seiko’s higher-end mechanical movement architecture.
Operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement provides a 72-hour power reserve. Its stated accuracy is +10 to -5 seconds per day, while the automatic winding system allows the watch to be worn without the need for regular manual winding.
The movement is visible through the sapphire caseback. Its finishing includes striped decoration across the rotor, bridges and plates, providing a mechanical view that complements the watch’s contemporary exterior.
Integrated bracelet and everyday practicality
The HKF005 is fitted with a faceted integrated-style stainless-steel bracelet designed to follow the contours of the case. Its surfaces continue the alternation between polished and brushed finishing, maintaining the same geometric character across the watch.

A folding clasp completes the bracelet, with its construction kept relatively discreet beneath the wrist.
Availability and price
The King Seiko Vanac HKF005 will be available from 1 October 2026 as a non-limited reference. It will be priced at € 3,400.
With its Tokyo-inspired dial, angular steel case and Grand Seiko-derived automatic calibre, the HKF005 adds a more atmospheric expression to the King Seiko Vanac collection without changing the technical foundation established by the earlier steel models.
