King Seiko Introduces Trio Of Watches With Japanese-Inspired Dials
Seiko has continued to blur the lines between its King Seiko collection and the prestigious Grand Seiko, as seen with the introduction of three new King Seiko models featuring textured gradient dials. These new releases — the SJE103, SJE105, and SJE107 — follow the path set by previous models, including the SJE089 and SJE091 from 2022, as well as the limited edition SJE096 launched in August 2023. The textured dials on these latest models seem to take inspiration from the SJE096, emphasizing Seiko’s dedication to refining the King Seiko line.
Each new watch showcases a unique dial design: SJE103 (Red) features a Japanese Plum Blossom pattern, inspired by the seasonal beauty of plum blossoms in Japan. SJE105 (Blue) its dial displays a motif of tortoise bark found by the Sumida River, highlighting Seiko’s artistic craftsmanship. SJE107 (Lavender) is decorated with a floral theme that draws inspiration from the Wisteria flowers of Kameido, this model has a matte finish, distinguishing it from the others.
All three models share the same case specifications: a 38.6 mm stainless steel case that is 10.7 mm thick and 45.8 mm long. The polished and brushed finishes, angular lugs, and the use of sapphire crystal give the watches a luxurious look. The watches also feature a screw-down case back with the King Seiko coat of arms and offer a water resistance of 50 meters.
The dials exhibit either a brilliant or matte effect, depending on the model, and are adorned with polished hour markers, Dauphine hands, and a framed date window at 3 o’clock. The King Seiko and “Automatic” inscriptions appear at 6 o’clock.
Powering these watches is the 6L35 automatic movement, boasting 26 jewels, a 28,800 Vph frequency, and a 45-hour power reserve. They come fitted with a 7-link stainless steel bracelet and are priced at around €3,400,
