Jaeger-LeCoultre Introduces The Polaris Date In A New 40mm Size

The Polaris collection welcomes a new addition with the arrival of the Polaris Date in a 40 mm stainless steel case. The new reference brings more compact proportions to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s sporty everyday watch while preserving the design elements that have defined the collection since its relaunch.

A More Compact Case

The biggest update comes in the form of the case dimensions. The stainless steel case now measures 40 mm in diameter, replacing the previous 42 mm format used across much of the Polaris Date lineup.

The reduction in size is accompanied by a slimmer profile, with the case thickness decreasing from 13.92mm to 12.9mm. Together with the short, downward-curving lugs, the new dimensions should provide improved comfort and versatility on a wider variety of wrist sizes.

Despite the revised proportions, the watch maintains the familiar Polaris silhouette and its distinctive twin-crown layout.

Dual Crowns And Internal Rotating Bezel

Like its larger sibling, the Polaris Date features two crowns positioned on the right side of the case.

The upper crown at 2 o’clock is responsible for winding the movement and setting the time and date, while the lower crown at 4 o’clock controls the internal rotating bezel.

Highlighted by orange accents, the internal bezel can be used to track elapsed time while preserving the clean appearance of the case by avoiding an external dive-style bezel.

Blue Fumé Dial With Multiple Finishes

The dial retains the familiar blue fumé appearance found on the 42 mm version, combining several finishing techniques to create depth and contrast.

At the centre sits a sunray-brushed section that gradually darkens towards the edges of the dial. This is surrounded by a snailed minute track and an outer grained ring that hosts the applied hour markers and the date aperture at 3 o’clock.

The skeletonised hands and applied indexes are filled with luminescent material to ensure legibility in low-light conditions.

Subtle Changes To The Dial Layout

Beyond the dimensions, Jaeger-LeCoultre has introduced small but noticeable refinements to the dial design.

The brand logo has been repositioned within the central section of the dial, creating a cleaner and more balanced appearance. Additional text has also been reduced, leaving only the discreet “Swiss Made” inscription at the lower edge of the dial.

These adjustments contribute to a more open and symmetrical layout without altering the recognisable Polaris identity.

Manufacture Calibre 899

Powering the watch is the manufacture Calibre 899 automatic movement.

The in-house movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and delivers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours while providing hours, minutes, central seconds and date functions.

The new Polaris Date 40 mm is paired with a blue canvas strap that complements the colour of the dial and reinforces the watch’s sporty character.
