IWC Lands New TOP GUN Miramar Chronograph In Steel And Ceramic
IWC Schaffhausen introduces a new colorway into its renowned Colours of TOP GUN lineup with the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Miramar, now available in both ceramic and, for the first time in the collection, stainless steel.
Aviation-Inspired Design in a New Hue
The “Miramar” name refers to the iconic naval air station in California, long associated with the U.S. Navy’s elite fighter pilot training program. The new Miramar Blue takes inspiration from the color of training shirts worn by instructors, resulting in a refined mid-blue tone that is neither too bright nor too dark. This color defines both the dial and case (for the ceramic model) and is paired with white markers and numerals for high legibility.
Case and Dial
The case measures 41.90 millimeters in diameter and is 15.50 millimeters thick, maintaining the proportions of IWC’s classic pilot’s chronograph layout. The dial design follows the recognizable 6/9/12 tricompax configuration, featuring subdials for the small seconds, 30-minute counter, and 12-hour totalizer. A day-date display is positioned at 3 o’clock, maintaining both balance and legibility — an essential feature in aviation timepieces. Visibility in low-light conditions is ensured through the application of Super-LumiNova on the hands and hour markers.

IW389409 – Ceramic Model
The full ceramic variant features a matte blue zirconium oxide ceramic case, a titanium caseback engraved with the TOP GUN insignia, and a soft-iron inner cage for magnetic protection. It is powered by the IWC Caliber 69380, an in-house automatic column-wheel chronograph movement that beats at 28,800 vph and offers a 46-hour power reserve. This model is limited to 1,000 pieces.

IW388117 – Stainless Steel Variant
The stainless steel edition introduces the Miramar blue dial and strap color into a brushed and polished steel case with rhodium-plated hands, setting it apart from its ceramic counterpart. Inside is the IWC Caliber 69385, nearly identical to the 69380 but without the soft-iron protection. Unlike the ceramic version, this model comes with a transparent sapphire caseback, allowing a full view of the movement. It joins IWC’s permanent collection.

Strap
Both watches are fitted with a blue rubber strap that matches the tone of the dial and features a textile inlay for added texture and durability. The strap is secured with a stainless steel folding clasp and is compatible with IWC’s EasX-CHANGE system, allowing for tool-free strap swaps.

Pricing and Availability
The ceramic IW389409 is priced at € 14,100 and is produced in a limited run of 1,000 units. The stainless steel IW388117, which is part of the regular lineup, is priced at € 7,800.
Summary
With the introduction of the Miramar Blue colorway in both ceramic and stainless steel cases, IWC brings a fresh visual identity to its pilot’s chronograph lineup while preserving the technical attributes and aviation functionality the series is known for. Whether in high-performance ceramic or classic steel, the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 TOP GUN Miramar continues the legacy of IWC’s dedication to precise, robust instruments for professionals.
