IWC Introduces The Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 TOP GUN Mojave Desert
IWC Schaffhausen continues its exploration of ceramic in watchmaking with the introduction of the Pilot’s Watch Automatic 41 Top Gun in Mojave Desert. This new release brings one of the brand’s most distinctive colorways—a matte sand-toned ceramic—into a compact and wearable 41mm format.
A Case of Precision: Mojave Desert Ceramic
The defining feature of this timepiece is its beige-brown ceramic case, measuring 41 mm in diameter and 11.4o mm in thickness. Achieving this color is a complex process: IWC’s engineers blend zirconium oxide with precisely calibrated metallic oxides to produce the final tone. The mix is formed into a “green body” and then sintered in a kiln, where it undergoes high-temperature treatment to become the scratch-resistant, ultra-hard ceramic IWC is known for.

The result is a lightweight, durable case that is not only visually striking but also engineered for resilience, with 100 meters of water resistance and anti-magnetic properties thanks to a soft-iron inner case.
High-Contrast Legibility
The brown dial maintains the legibility IWC’s Pilot’s Watches are known for, with bold Arabic numerals and hands coated in Super-LumiNova for optimal visibility in low light. The design remains faithful to aviation watch heritage, combining clarity with tactical aesthetics.

Powered for Performance
At the heart of the watch is the IWC-manufactured 32112 calibre, an automatic movement offering an impressive 120-hour (5-day) power reserve. Functions include central hours, minutes, hacking seconds, and a date display at 3 o’clock. The movement is shielded from magnetic fields and housed behind a titanium caseback engraved with the Top Gun insignia.

A Personal Perspective
After seeing the arrival of the Lake Tahoe time-and-date version in the TOP GUN line earlier this year, it is now time for the Mojave Desert version to receive the same 41mm treatment. Of the entire Pilot’s Watches in ceramic, the Mojave Desert version remains our favorite. Its unique tone and rugged appeal make it a standout in IWC’s modern catalog.

That said, it is almost incomprehensible that the time-and-date version continues to share the same 41 mm case used for the chronograph variant. While it maintains consistency across the line, we can’t help but continue dreaming of a more wrist-friendly size, especially for those who prefer the elegance of a simpler, slimmer profile.
Strap and Price
The watch is paired with a sand-colored rubber strap with textile inlay, complementing the monochromatic design while ensuring durability and comfort. The retail price is set at CHF 7,800, aligning it with other ceramic models in the Top Gun Automatic 41 range.
