IWC Introduces The Ingenieur With A Striking Navy Blue Dial
The IWC Ingenieur, originally introduced during Watches & Wonders, pays homage to the iconic Ingenieur SL from the 1970s, designed by the legendary Gérald Genta. This latest version brings a sophisticated navy blue dial to the lineup, complementing the existing collection. While the new release doesn’t feature any groundbreaking innovations, its refined aesthetics and classic appeal continue to attract enthusiasts of luxury integrated bracelet watches.
Encased in stainless steel, the IWC Ingenieur measures 40mm in diameter, 10.80mm in thickness, and 45.70mm lug-to-lug. The design combines brushed surfaces with polished bevels, creating a harmonious balance of texture and finish. The smooth bezel, secured by five screws, adds to the watch’s sleek profile, while the sapphire crystal and 100-meter water resistance ensure durability. A signed crown flanked by protective guards and a solid screwed case back further enhance its robust yet elegant construction.
The navy blue dial, featuring IWC’s signature square grid pattern, is a visual masterpiece. Each square alternates between four-line fills and nine micro-squares, creating depth and texture. The applied indexes and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova for optimal legibility in low light. Additional design elements include a framed date window at 3 o’clock with a matching blue background, a smooth minute track, and the embossed IWC logo at noon. The “Ingenieur” inscription at 6 o’clock adds a touch of heritage to the design.
Powering this timepiece is the Caliber 32111 automatic movement, derived from the Valfleurier Baumatic. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, this movement offers an impressive 120-hour power reserve, ensuring reliable performance over several days. The watch is paired with a steel H-link integrated bracelet featuring a butterfly clasp, providing a secure and comfortable fit.
Available now in IWC boutiques and authorized retailers, the IWC Ingenieur with a navy blue dial is priced at € 12,700. This model reaffirms IWC’s commitment to blending timeless design with modern watchmaking expertise, making it a compelling choice for enthusiasts seeking a versatile yet sophisticated timepiece.
