IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35: Smaller Case, Same Identity
IWC Schaffhausen has expanded its Ingenieur lineup with the introduction of a 35mm version of the modern Ingenieur Automatic. The new release, unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2025, reinterprets the design language of the larger 40mm model in a reduced form factor, while maintaining the core structural and aesthetic elements that define the current generation of the Ingenieur.

Case and Construction
The Ingenieur Automatic 35 features a stainless steel or 18k 5N gold case with a diameter of 35mm and a thickness of 9.4mm. Like its larger sibling, the case integrates directly into a matching bracelet, emphasizing the watch’s architectural profile and integrated design.
Water resistance is rated at 100 meters, with the signature bezel affixed by five functional polygonal screws—a design hallmark rooted in the original Gérald Genta Ingenieur SL of 1976.

Dial and Display
Each version of the Ingenieur 35 is equipped with a textured dial finished in a grid or “waffle” pattern. Applied hour markers are filled with Super-LumiNova, ensuring legibility in low-light conditions. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides.
Three initial variants are being released:
IW324901: Stainless steel with silver dial
IW324906: Stainless steel with black dial
IW324903: 18k 5N gold with gold-tone dial and matching bracelet
All models feature central hours, minutes, and seconds, with a discreet date window positioned at 3 o’clock.

Movement and Performance
Powering the Ingenieur Automatic 35 is the IWC-manufactured Caliber 47110, a compact automatic movement designed to fit the smaller case dimensions. The caliber operates at a frequency of 4 Hz (28,800 vph) and delivers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.
The movement is visible through a sapphire exhibition caseback, offering a view of the decorated rotor and bridges. While not matching the 120-hour autonomy of the Caliber 32111 found in the 40mm version, the 47110 remains a reliable, in-house alternative optimized for the 35mm format.

Bracelet and Fit
The integrated bracelet continues IWC’s use of a H-link structure with brushed and polished surfaces for dynamic contrast. A folding clasp secures the watch on the wrist. The compact size and refined ergonomics of the 35mm model enhance comfort and wearability, particularly for individuals with smaller wrists or those seeking a more restrained profile.

Availability and Pricing
The IWC Ingenieur Automatic 35 is now part of the brand’s regular production. The stainless steel versions are positioned below the 40mm model in terms of price, at € 11,300, while the gold reference commands a higher premium due to the precious metal case and bracelet construction at € 41,800.
