IWC Celebrates the Arrival of the Chinese Rabbit Year with a Portugieser Automatic 40 Special Edition
The 22nd of January marks the beginning of the Chinese new year, the Year of the Rabbit, which runs until the 9th of February 2024, and to mark the occasion, IWC presents a limited edition of the Portugieser Automatic 40.
This special edition, which features the collection’s usual classic and contemporary lines, comes with a burgundy dial and gold-plated indexes.
The new Portugieser on the outside is presented in a 40mm stainless steel case with an alternating polished and brushed finish, fluted crown with the brand’s signature, sapphire crystal on the front and on the case back that reveals the automatic movement whose highlight is going completely into the skeletonized gold rotor with the shape of the rabbit.
The beautiful burgundy dial is decorated with a gold railway minute track, gold-plated applied Arabic numerals and leaf hands, small seconds at 6 o’clock and the brand’s inscriptions at 12 o’clock, all printed in gold.
Inside operates the In-house Caliber 82200, which runs 28,800 Vph and offers up to 60 hours of power reserve.
The Portugieser Automatic 40 Edition “Chinese New Year” is offered with two leather straps, one grained black and the other with a burgundy colour gradation.
A total of 500 units will be available in the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers at a price of €8,900.
