IWC Brings Back The Big Pilot’s Watch Markus Bühler Now With A Tourbillon

In 2008, IWC released a 12-piece limited edition of the Big Pilot’s Watch Edition by Markus Bühler, an apprentice at IWC who had just won the competition in his final year. The watch stood out for having small seconds inspired by jet turbines on its dial. The brand is now producing a new limited edition of the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Markus Bühler, which now incorporates a tourbillon in the turbine.

In 2008, IWC launched a 12-piece edition of the Big Pilot’s Watch Edition Markus Bühler, a watch (IW5003) that stood out for featuring small seconds in the shape of a jet turbine that left many fans excited.

At the time Markus was just an apprentice watchmaker at IWC Schaffhausen who had just won the competition in his last year of mentorship. Today occupying the position of Associate Director of Watch and Movement Assembly at the Maison that trained him, launches a new edition inspired by his creation from 15 years ago, which now arrives in a limited edition of 51 units (one of them reserved for its creator Markus) in platinum and which now adds a tourbillon.

The new IWC Big Pilot’s Watch 43 Tourbillon Markus Bühler (IW329901) arrives in a 950 Platinum case, with dimensions of 43mm in diameter, 14.60mm in thickness and 52mm lug-to-lug distance, mainly presenting a brushed finish on the surfaces and polished bezel, onion-shaped crown, sapphire crystal on both sides and 100m water resistance.

The glossy black dial, features printed white Arabic numerals, applied hour markers and a triangle with two dots at noon all filled with Super-LumiNova, which also fills the two central hour and minute hands. But the highlight here is the flying one-minute tourbillon positioned at 6 o’clock with the shape of a 13-blade turbine.

It is through the sapphire crystal of the screw-down case back that we can observe the In-house automatic movement Caliber 82905 at work, which came with blackened elements, reaching 28,800 Bph and offering up to 80 hours of power reserve.

The watch is attached to a black Cordovan leather strap with a platinum clasp with Markus Bühler’s signature and can be purchased at the brand’s official boutiques and authorized retailers for CHF 125,000.
