Is This The Best Version Yet? Furlan Marri’s New Shara Edition Shines
Furlan Marri presents its latest collaborative release with CLE: The Gallery—the Sahra Edition, a limited chronograph of 750 pieces shaped by the tones, textures, and cultural identity of the Arabian desert. While mechanically and architecturally rooted in the Ardesia Blu released earlier this year, this new edition introduces a completely reimagined dial that celebrates Saudi heritage and the region’s natural landscapes.

Collaborative Origins
The Sahra Edition is created in partnership with CLE: The Gallery, founded in London in 2013 by Saudi entrepreneur Yasmine Al Shathry. Originally established as a luxury concierge service catering to collectors across Saudi Arabia and the GCC, CLE has since evolved into a curated destination for design-driven objects, art, and limited-edition collaborations.
A Dial Inspired by the Sands of Riyadh
The Sahra Edition replaces the earlier sector dial with a dial defined by warm tonal transitions and cultural detail. At its center lies a lacquered gradient, beginning with a vivid golden hue that gradually deepens into shades of brown toward the outer edge. This shifting palette reflects the desert at midday, where sunlight moves over dunes and creates sculpted contrasts shaped by the wind.

Applied Hindi-Arabic numerals mark the 3, 6, and 12 o’clock positions, accompanied by applied dots at the remaining hours. The single 60-minute chronograph counter at 9 o’clock adopts an off-white shade that aligns with the tone of the minute ring. Both the counter and the ring use printed Hindi-Arabic numerals, ensuring consistent visual identity across all functional elements. The perimeter features a beige pulsometer scale in matching Hindi-Arabic numerals, completing the dial’s cohesive cultural character.
Case
The watch retains the established Furlan Marri Mechaquartz case architecture, measuring 38 mm in diameter, 12 mm in thickness, and 46 mm lug-to-lug. The polished stepped bezel, curved lugs, and signature Tasti Tondi pushers reinforce the vintage-inspired chronograph design the brand is known for. A sapphire crystal provides clarity and resistance to wear.

Engraved on the caseback are geographic coordinates pointing to a specific location chosen for its beauty and its representation of Riyadh’s surrounding desert. This detail links the watch directly to the environment that inspired it.
Movement
Inside the watch is the Seiko VK64 Mechaquartz movement, which blends quartz precision with a mechanically actuated chronograph module. This hybrid configuration provides the smooth sweep of the central chronograph seconds hand, responsive pusher feedback, and the solid reliability that defines the Mechaquartz series. The VK64 remains one of the factors behind Furlan Marri’s appeal among enthusiasts, balancing vintage character with modern practicality.
Straps
The Sahra Edition includes two textured leather straps, each equipped with quick-release bars. The first is a dark brown strap with cream stitching, echoing the deeper tones of the dial’s gradient. The second is a cream-colored strap with matching stitching, reflecting the brighter sand-like tones found at the dial’s center. Both options offer distinct stylistic interpretations of the desert palette.

Price and Availability
The Sahra Edition is priced at SAR 3,110 or CHF 685. This represents a prize of roughly CHF 100 compared to the Sabbia Rosa and Ardesia Blu versions released in June of this year. The additional cost reflects the limited nature of the piece, the exclusive collaboration, and the special execution of the dial.

The Furlan Marri x CLE – Sahra Edition will be available exclusively at CLE: The Gallery in Riyadh starting November 25th, followed by an online release on Furlan Marri’s website from December 3rd. Production is limited to 750 units.
Our Opinion
The Sahra Edition stands out as one of the most beautiful interpretations of the Mechaquartz series to date. Its combination of warm desert-inspired tones and Hindi-Arabic numerals gives it a presence unlike any previous model, offering a charm that collectors increasingly value. The only drawback is the premium over the standard collection, but in our view, the added exclusivity, cultural narrative, and distinctive design make it a price well worth paying for the complete package.
