Introducing The Gerald Charles Maestro 8.0 Squelette Titanium Left Side Crown
Gerald Charles presents the first skeletonized Maestro 8.0 with a titanium case and crown on the left.
The elegant watch with the traditional stepped case shape is now made of Grade 5 titanium in a dark grey tone, maintaining the previous moderate dimensions of 39mm by 41mm and just 8.35mm thick, in addition to the novelty of the super light case material, another new feature It is its screw-down crown that now appears positioned on the left, protecting the open-worked dial is the sapphire glass that is also applied to the case back, and finally 100m of water resistance.
On the skeletonized dial, it is the silver bridges of the movement that stand out the most, counterbalanced by the two blue hands in the same tone as the minute track. Behind the bridges, the micro-rotor is hidden in the lower right corner, next to the barrel and just above the balance wheel.
Inside, it continues to come equipped with the Caliber GCA5482 micro-rotor automatic movement, which had to undergo a 180º rotation to be able to operate the crown on the left, reaching 21,600 Vph and offering up to 50 hours of power reserve.
The limited production watch, like its peers, comes attached to a royal blue vulcanized rubber strap with the usual “Clous de Paris” pattern and a titanium buckle with the brand’s logo signature.
Our Opinion
When we had the opportunity to speak personally with Federico Ziviani, CEO of the brand, here in Lisbon, in June this year, he was wearing the steel Maestro 8.0 Squelette with a light blue strap on his wrist, and despite not being a big fan of skeletonized watches, after trying Federico’s I was very impressed because the watch fits very well, even taking into account the small size of my wrist.
This version that now appears in titanium still looks more attractive taking into account its darkened tone that will appear smaller, also the crown on the left seems to be the right choice, at least for me, who despite being right-handed I always wear the watch in the right arm.
