Introducing Three New Omega Globemaster Annual Calendar
With the new winter season in mind, Omega has just expanded its Globemaster Annual Calendar line by including three new models. The new models include variants in stainless steel, stainless steel and Sedna Gold, and Sedna Gold, leaving only platinum out of the choices already present in the collection. As for the dials, there are full novelties, with variants in green, burgundy, and gold.
The Globemaster line was first introduced in 2015 as the world’s first Master Chronometer certified collection. The three new variants come with a 41 mm case, and traditional features such as the fluted bezel and pie-pan dial, inspired by the first Omega Constellation launched in 1952. On the dial and between the hour markers are elegantly written the months of the year, whose indication is given by a central auxiliary hand, in the sapphire case back the usual central medallion engraved with the Observatory.
The Green variant
It features a stainless steel case and bezel, sun-brushed green dial with some details in 18k white gold, namely the central facetted hands, Omega logo at 12 o’clock, hour indexes, and Constellation star at 6 o’clock. Inside runs the Caliber 8922 which comes with Co-Axial escapement and is Chronometer certified, offering up to 55 hours of power reserve. This variant is offered with a green leather strap.
The Burgundy variant
Comes with stainless steel case, polished bezel and crown both in 18k Sedna gold. Inside, a sun-brushed burgundy dial and the same details as the green variant but here in 18k Sedan gold.
Powered by the In-house Co-Axial Master Chronometer Annual Calendar Caliber 8922. The watch is offered with a burgundy leather strap.
The Gold variant
As far as the eye can see, everything in this variant is manufactured in 18k Sedna gold, from the case, bezel and crown, but also on the dial, whose subtle inscription “Au750” does not let lie about the origin of the material used on it. All the other details identified above in the other two variants are also presented in the same type of material as the case and dial. Also noteworthy is the black onyx, applied to the hour indexes and also for the minute and hour hands, used for the first time by Omega. Inside, the Caliber 8923 operates, which has the main technical characteristics as the Caliber 8922, with the difference that it is used exclusively for models in gold and platinum, distinguishing by housing a gold bridge and rotor. Finally, the watch is offered with a glossy black leather strap.
Our Opinion
If there is nothing new in terms of used material since everything changes with regard to the dial, with three unprecedented colors in the entire Globemaster collection, which as far as we are concerned are at least intelligent and we have left us in doubt about which one we liked the most.
We also cannot fail to highlight two small-large details that pleased us, making all the difference, as well as constituting a valuable upgrade. First, the date window, which now rests on a disk in the color of the dial, it’s hard to believe that nowadays this detail is often neglected. Second, the black onyx in the gold version, which it gives a completely different look to the watch, in addition to perfectly matching the tone of the case and dial and also pairing perfectly with the glossy bracelet.
We liked it.
