Introducing the Zenith DEFY Zero-G Sapphire and DEFY 21 Double Tourbillon Sapphire
Let’s go to another Pitch Watch
After introducing the Zenith DEFY Zero-G and the Zenith DEFY El Primero Double Tourbillon for the first time in 2018 and 2019 respectively, now in 2021, the brand decides to reinterpret these two timepieces by reimagining their extraordinary movements.
With a futuristic evocation, both pieces are distinguished by their transparency provided by their sapphire cases, but also by the blue tones of the PVD treatment of many of their components, as the chamfered edges of the bridges finished with a rhodium-colored PVD and the engraved elements like stars and inscriptions.
DEFY Zero-G Sapphire
It is distinguished by its off-centered dial, the small seconds with the red planet Mars in the background and partially eclipsed by the hour and minute dial, the discrete power reserve indicator, and the gyroscopic module, which features the cratered texture mimicking the moon on the back.
The main plate and the bridges of the movement are finished in blue with small white dots representing the stars and gray rhodium chamfers. Handcrafted executed through various traditional crafts.
DEFY 21 Double Tourbillon Sapphire
This chronograph focuses on its two independent tourbillons, which complete one rotation every 60 seconds for the time-keeping tourbillon and 5 seconds for the chronograph’s tourbillon.
Like DEFY Zero-G it features a decor evoking space exploration with the main plate in shades of blue engraved with white stars decor that also extends to some of the dial-side bridges. Also, note that the chronograph second-hand moves at an incredible speed of 1/00th of a second confirming its accuracy.
Both timepieces are limited editions of 10 pieces each, and that Zenith will offer the possibility for each of their owners to participate in a “Parabolic Zero-Gravity Flight”, which takes place in February 2022 at Novespace, a subsidiary of the French National Space Center, at its premises in Bordeaux.
